what are you into? whats the crowd like?
My old band when we first started out did a bad cover of whole lot of love. AC/DC is good (bringing it back home to Australia?) like you shook me or the jack, back in black. smoke on the water and anything by Sabbath are pretty easy.
Unless you into acoustic jams then go with some old dead like ripple, box of rain, uncle johns band. maybe some dylan or beatles songs. |

EMB, I don't know if I'd recommend Free Bird... or Stairway... or Sweet Child of Mine. Those are all pretty complex if you're looking for something "relitivly easy that lotsa people know." However, "lotsa people" would know them, which is a plus. |

well, it matters your experiance, id admit its hard to play free bird flawless, but stairway isnt tht hard, or sweet child, i can play both u just need a distortion pedal. |

Stairway would probably be fine, as nothing but the solo is very challenging. But still, I would stay away from the other two. And again, this in the context of the song being relatively easy. |

House of the Rising Sun would be a good choice. Bob Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Closing Time by Semisonic. Over the Hills and Far Away would be a good one too, really fun song. |

Just to diversify from the Rock and Folk songs listed, here are some relatively simple Jazz, Latin, and Funk songs, that are pretty recognizable:
Watermelon Man - Herbie Hancock
Tequila - Wes Montgomery
Pick Up The Pieces - Average White Band
Cissy Strut - The Meters
Here are some other good blues and folk songs:
When Love Comes To Town - B.B. King
The Thrill Is Gone - B.B. King
After Midnight - J.J. Cale
Pride And Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan |

Crazy Train and Run To The Hills are what people will know if its a metal crowd you could go Black Dog my Zeppelin for a rock crowd or any Stevie Ray Vaughan for a blues atmosphere |

Another great Purple number that gets everyone on their feet is 'Black night'. It's easy to play (on all instruments) and it's great for soloing to. You can keep it rolling for as long as the crowd wants to listen! |
