Our current name is Skold, but I think it sounds too rough for the music that we play.
I came up with a new name based on what my favorite bands were, what my music ripped off (oasis, the beatles), and what we were. The name is "The American-Brit`s". What do you guys think?
Note: for reference on what our music sounds like, www.myspace.com/americanbrits |

names can be hard i would suggest keeping the name open to change until you find one that works for you. you can continue to change the name without harm until your band becomes known by a certain name. this will prob take awhile so you have time. names come from odd places such as one day i was watching the show CHiPS on tv and ponch or john called in on the radio and said "seven mary three to base...." so i guess the guys from that band watched reruns of chips aswell.

Skold does sound a bit... alternative metal. The American Brits is ok... but keep your options open. |

Skold sounds better than the "American-Brits" in my opinion.(Britney Spears....... lol) American brits makes me picture the Osmonds or the Monkees. |

But Skold doesn't suit brit-pop/indie/pop-rock which you seem to be. |

Isn't Skold already a band? Led by the guy who played with Marilyn Manson.
I would say the Redcoats, if you want a british thing. |

I'll have to think it over. I mean, I don't want to sound unpatriotic to my country, so... |

no offence but i rekon u should drop the patriotism and let your music explain the genre. like "the killer" they play rock-pop-indie and their name is killers lol. and theres sum bands dat play dat music called, The Vines, Faker, Eskimo Joe, so yeah (dere taken by real bands). i was thinking bout the name RENEGADE MESSIAH, but thats probably to heavy for you, wat about SUB-ZERO EVOLUTION??? i dno, but a gud hint is
to hav a juxtaposition of words like as in renegade messiah, u hav renegade which is like destructive, and then messiah which is holy and gud and stuff so yer :D. |

Didn't I explain the name to ya'll? It IS about the music we play. The Beatles, Oasis, and some others = The Brits. The Kinks, Dylan, Nirvana, and others = The Americans. Ergo, The American Brits. |

lol coming from a BC Rich player
and wel for that band name it has to be something that just roles off the tongue and really catches what your band is like, quite like the americn brits but for a band name a bit of a mouth full |

does any one remember this piano playing chick called Fiona apple? Her second cd had some super long title. most places called it "when a pawn..." but according to Wikipedia it had over 400 text characters.
I think if i got in a band the name would follow some super long thing, just like my girl fiona! or maybe go with something short like "a" mabye "r".

i dno...me nd my friend jus cum up with kick-ass words that sound gud together... wait
it means that its freezing cold in my house, and coz im young im mostly in my freezing cold house so im evolving in my house which happens to be cold...or mayb its a reference to the ice age because all indigenous tribes moved to their lands thru ice ages so that sub zero evolution...its a tribute to indigenous peoples :D |

My "band" has a few names. We were originally "Cellar Door," then "Six-String Soul"(I hate that one, sounds really oh look we're cool-ish), and now we've kind of settled on "The Last Time." |

Seven Car Pileup is catchy to me, but my friend thinks that 'We're Not Emo' is better.
What's that mean BC Rich player? Just kidding. |

The Kinks were British, not American. |
