hey guys, ive come up with a cool variation of the hungarian harmonic minor...its almost the same, except for a few missing notes...in the key of Am which is the key of the song i play it in, the notes are: A, D#, E and F...you might say that it is the same scale...which technikly it is...but it sounds way different when you play just those notes...just thought i share it with you and i hope it gives you some musical inspiration...
p.s.- you'll soon be able to hear the song on my website- showcaseyourmusic.com/lanny124 |

here's another cool scale which is based off a Fmaj13(no 5th) chord...its in the key of F major and the notes are: F, G, A, D and E...it can also be a variation of the Cmaj scale depending on how you look at it... |

Well... it's not really a new/your own scale. I might try it out though, thanks for sharing. |

Lol, no worries. I was just confused because there's only three notes... which would pretty much be limiting yourself, wouldn't it? |

there's four...in the first one A, D#, E and F...it is limiting in a way but its whole new sound...kinda like string skipping makes different tones then playing every note in order.... |

but it also opens a whole new way to think about each scale... |

Well... it's probably been done before... and isn't really a scale... just a series of notes within a scale. I mean... you never play every note in order anyway, unless you're just going through the scale. |

@ebida
-there are two ways to look at improvising, Chordal and scaleular. GS124 is looking at in it in chords so he is breaking the scales up to fit his function(be it melodic or harmonic). In the end there the same thing(chords and scales), you can look at harmony&melody as being the same thing just in different dimensions harmony being horizontal and melody vertical. |
