hey Jeff,
I've heard the term "Dubstep" before and frankly I never knew much about it, so Wikipedia to the rescue. THEN I listened to the song you picked ^^^.
Well, it's good dance music. It's good background music for a dance club that you don't have to pay too much attention to while you're socializing. Fills the room with sound, get's everyone in the "mood".
Would I play it in the car on my way to work? Probably not. Would I have it on while I'm reading a book? nope. Would I play it while washing dishes and cleaning the house? Yeah, I probably would. It does tend to get the old bod moving about. LOL
Would I buy some? Maybe, especially if I were throwing a party. I like a strong beat and booming percussion! This has it.
Sooooooo.........I don't hate it!
Phip
I'll put it this way.
If I'm in a laid back mode, I'm playing Carl Snow, JustJeff, Elliott and maybe some BBT.
If I'm feeling high energy I've got Emp, GuitarSlinger, Alex and Casey on the box.
If I want to dance I'm putting Jazzy on for sure.

Prevent? Nothing at all.
Most people are reactive and not pro-active.
Musicians have a long history of writing about social ills but I can't remember one who wrote a song about starving children until there actually WERE starving children.
We reflect the times in which we live and sometimes we shape the times in which we live. The latter is a rare treat.
And when we do reach the consciences of the masses it is up to them to deal with the "puppets in charge". ;)

Well that's just about 1 week isn't it? I'd like to thank all of you for the great questions! Some got me thinking about stuff I hadn't thought about in a while. I enjoyed the exchange. It was fun.
I hope somehow my answers have given rise to your own self exploration.
It would be nice to think that ideas have be germinated and another point of view has been expressed.
A final thought if I may; on the subject of taste and opinion regarding how "good" or "bad" an artist or genre is. If you think a particular artist is "bad" then that is YOUR reality, as real as the fingers on your hand. And yet someone else may idolize that same artist. That is THEIR reality and just as real. NEITHER is a universal reality. Aspire to realize universal reality. Think about it.

Thank you all!
