After a while of messing around with my Multi Fx, amps, and the amps at GC and local shops i have found my tone.
The Problem?
Its an Ibanez Tube Screamer (low-no gain, pretty much just for its added tone)to a Marshall amp (pretty much any of them on all out distortion).
However I spent almost all my money already. Is it possible to get the tone of a Marshall, in a stompbox? (instead of an extremely overpriced head) or am i stuck with my 1watt micro stack? (with horrible EQ/OD control) |

:et me understand...
You have a marshall micro stack, and want a pedal to put in front of it to make it sound good?
Well the best pedal your gonna find for rock is gonna be a lovepedal eternity, FUlltone OCD, Those style pedals. However they work with tube amps. Im sorry to say but that micro stack is never really gonna sound amazing. |

What i mean is i want the tone of a Marshall, in a stompbox, so i can get my 100 watt Fender (permenantly set to clean) to sound epic, without spending a grand on a Marshall Head, or using my Microstack as a half broken substitute.
So i want to put a pedal in front of my Fender Amp, so i dont have to buy an overpriced head or use the p.o.s. multi FX. |

Not exactly EMB, you can use a Fulltone OCD, or a Lovepedal in front of an SS. Just because they are meant to overdrive tube amps doesn't mean they are off limits for a sole ditortion pedal in front of an SS.
@Domigan
I agree with EMB on the micro stack though, it's really only meant for self practice at home, not sure if it will take pedals well through the 'head' or not.
Don't look for the "Marshall in a box" sound since like the fulltone and the Lovepedal they will cost you a pretty penny, instead try out more affordable pedals that are |

Lovepedals, fulltones are up in the 100s or 200s. And yeah they work on SS amps they just sound bad...
Is the fender a tube amp?
Id recommend a lovepedal or a fulltone,
However if you dont wanna spend 150+ look at the luther drive, very neat pedal, made by gearmanndude. ITs like 108$
Marshalls pedals honestly arnt that great...
If you want a marshall in a box, check out lovepedal, fulltone, et al. Like other boutique pedals... |

Marshall makes the "Guvnor" which I suspect would sound similar to a JCM800 if you boosted the front a bit with a Tubescreamer type of pedal.
@EMB
It depends on the amp used. SS and Tube cleans are just that, CLEAN haha if the clean is already pretty bad you can't expect a pedal to sound good through it but if it sounds okay and has a nice amount of ring to it, then you can expect quality results. |

Yeah i know. What im saying is most of these boutique style pedals are made for tube amps. IVe put my lovepedal in front of a relativly good SS clean amp and it sounds like crap, however on a tube amp (depending which one) it sound amazing.
YEah marshall makes the guvnor but youd litterally be buying it for the name marshall on it. Theres MUCH better stompboxes than that. Not saying it isnt good just that there are much better ones |

yeah, I get you man, tubes do sound better pretty much 99% of the time, but that's more for the guitarist that listens for certain things in their tone. I think that an SS on clean(depending of course) is a more solid amp for gigs and will sound just fine with many pedals put through it, although some are meant for tubes really(OCD, Eternity, old TS's)...
The Guvnor, I don't know... I was looking into getting one because I thought the sound clips online were pretty solid for only $40 pedals, very useable IMO.
I would look into the Digitech Hardwire series pedals(already some used ones laying around in stores), I liked what I've heard when I demoed a few.
Maybe until you can really narrow it down to a few certain pedals(I suggest soundclips on company websites),I would honestly suggest that you just play around with the amp's main distortion and different EQs since you could find something even better and not have to spend a dime to do it. |

hard wire digitechs are really good, i highly suggest them.
The porblem with pedal in front of a ss amp is they do sound like crap. the clean can be ok but when u put the pedal in front it sounds awful |

again it depends, if you are trying to overdrive the front end of a SS clean channel I agree it sounds terrible, but if you are using a pedal for your main distortion, it doesn't matter too much whether it's SS or Tube. I have my TK999HT boosted with a Bad Monkey(amazing pedals, both) and when I click off the TK it sounds like crap because I'm overdriving the solid state circuitry. |
