I think its great you are trying to learn slide ! :) MORE folks should improve their skills in this way.
Hell, Just learning all the Chords (Tilted Slide, Slide + Fingers or fingers no slide) in the 5 main open tunings takes a seeming lifetime, but if ya study hard, you'll get 'em and be a 'leg up' on the competition, lol!@
i learned slide in Standard tuning from one of my teachers from the 70's, *Hector Qirko (*just moved down from Chicago and a gig with Lonnie Brooks)
and
Standard, tuning slide is all "touch" esp on an electric.
but
Since my favs (Slide players) played acoustics, thats where i mainly concentrate my attention, Usually in Open D but at Times In G, Am, or E-maj)
Trying to play a Slide can be frustrating as hell (took me about 12 years to fee;l "comfortable" with it, but dont give up!
keep on practicing and practicing and practicing and eventually you'll "get there", chords, riffs, leads and all. I just takes a T-O-N
of patience and 2-Tons of practice time.
some guys to listen to that may help:
(da god ->)Mississippi Fred McDowell
Son House
Blind Willie Johnson
Duane Allmann
Charlie Patton
Jeff beck
etc...
but most notably 90% the Delta Blues that came out of the south in the 30's 40's and 50's
