im getting a buzz/rattle, when i play open strings, it seems the lower the strings (lower in notes, not height) the louder it is. sounds kinda like fret buzz, only it seems to be coming from the head stock. help?

you don't have a broken string, do you? i know it sounds dumb, but one time i broke a string and couldn't get around to replacing it for a while, but still strummed my strat for practice. i noticed a pretty bad buzzing. turns out, it was caused by the lack of tension on the tuning peg. it was rattling in its bearing

tightening the tuner should help with something. Though that needs to be done after you've taken the strings off the guitar.

I'm comparing and contrasting brass versus teflon myself for both my guitars.
if the tuner is a little loose(loosen the string and look for wiggle and such with any of the tuners) if there isn't any then just like Alex and everyone else basically said, check the nut.

Sure its as easy as eating a watermelon in the back of a cangaroo, nothing special, just buy the nut, replace the strings and te nut, simple.

UNLESS you're doing a locking nut system, there you need to take it to a guy who knows that stuff
