has anyone else played 12 stringed acoustics? are they much harder to play then a normal acoustic or is it a big difference? as in chording and hammer-ons, not really asking about sound difference
since i was 15, lol, after waiting 5 or 6 years and washing a million cars/mowing a million lawns.
Big Acoustic 12 Strings have a sound like nothing else on the planet!
Ya GOTTA love 'em!
Sure they are a bit harder to bend, and stuff like that , but hey! yer using twice (almost) the tension!
I Used to have a Fender Strat 12 String but it was killed in 1986 or so...
Still have (at studio now) a thick bodied Martin 12-String and still love playing it as much as day one.
my "other" guitarist , Mike, has no Ac-12 (shame!!) but lets me play his 1967 Rickenbacker semi-hollowbody 12 string, which is more than a treat!
but
as to the "hard" question.
if you've been playing your acoustic git diligently for a few years, (as little as 3-5 yrs, max!
thats all!)taking care to strengthen the hands and super-harden yer callouses and widen your chordal vocabulary, there should be no problem at all with the mechanics of playing the 12, only the fine-tuning of your approach. 'the little stuff'.
Hope that Helped
RAWK!
