I'm trying to learn about some more musicians. I saw on one forum jazzmaverick was going off with a list of names (which i wrote down every name), so I figured a good musician should be familiar with names. So it would be a big help if you could just make me a list of classical and jazz guitarists you think I should know about and it'll be aprecciated. thanks |

Oh dear. We should? I guess you're right there! Why didn't I think of that? Okay, if I find any different ones I'll let you know, for now I think I'll just also take these suggestions, ha. |

Taylor says: nobody mentioned john coltrane. what up with that? lol erm, well, it probably has something to do with the fact, that John wasn't a guitarist.:P
he was, however, an extremely influential musician worth checking out.:) |

Randy Rhoads. He included a lot of classical technique into the metal of Ozzy. Ask Elliott. He'll tell you...a LOT! lol. |

ahh, yes. lol. let us see...*puts on reading glasses at tip of nose* yes well lets see in order in the record of genesis we see the 3rd song (dee) a classical song. made by randy rhoads. then we see revelation (mother earth) and in the 2nd record of rhoads we find flying high again, you cant kill rock n roll, tonight, sato, and of course diary of a madman just to name a few, but in all seriousness randy acctually was gona quit ozzy and go to ucla and get a classical degree.
hoever i wouldnt consider him a formal classical guitarist, he is though, really, he loved classical, so yeh i would consider him neo classical (meaning new classical, which in my terms for randy is just classical music made recently, i mean if u take it literally, all of yo yo ma's stuff is neo classical. |

Well, it's difficult for people to understand this, but you shouldn't just listen to guitarists. Soooo many people have amazing skills and terrific melodies that you should listen to absolutely anything within these genres and incorperate them into your own playing. |
