Is there a way to painlessly put inlays on a guitar that comes stock with no inlays?
This what I'm looking at.

i have i question for you guys why do you want inlays i have always thought they where unnecessary and stupid in way (exception when first learning of course) i don't want them at all.
[however the outcome of the tone of reading this might be i mean it as a sincere question] |

On certain guitars it looks nice. I'm about an intermediate level [or so I'm told] so how hard would it be converting from actually learning with in;ays to getting an axe without them? |

I think If I adjusted to it though it'd definetley make me a better player overall. It'll let me have more of a feel for tone and sound of the guitar, without going "Well the seventh fret sounds like this". I'll KNOW what frets give whats sounds give what very easily. AHA!! I've just answered myself!! Thank me!!! lol. |

if you have a good feeling with your guitar and can move around with out looking there is no need to have inlays after a about a year, give or take a few months is all you need. however there is a problem, guitars differ on by where the joint is. So if you play a guitar with a joint at the 14 fret and pick up a guitar whit it on the 12th fret you will be all messed. up that is what probably happened to you emb |

i think the answer to your questions about adding or changing inlay's would be no. It can be done don't get me wrong but it will cost you an arm and a leg. |

honestly, a guitar without inlays actually looks like a cheap, crappy guitar, even though it might not be. even if you dont need inlays to play, they give a balance that in my opinion, is what a guitar needs to look professional. but you know what would be an easy fix and would look cool too, put stickers or draw your own inlays :-p. it might look badass, you never know. |

These guitars ain't crappy at all!
Moffa guitar, costs at least $1800, plus shipping from Italy, where they're made:

Parker Fly Mojo guitar, costs $3000:

Eastman guitar, costs $2000:

However, this is not to say that inlays are automatically bad, since I think that they can often enhance the look of a guitar. But just because a guitar doesn't have them means it looks cheap.
