On a Mac you can drag a midi file into Garage band and actually edit all of the midi tracks then export it as an mp3. Do you have a Mac by chance?

I use cubase and you can select a track and do a export with a "mixdown" and only select the midi track. then you can export to mp3, wave or what ever you want.

MusicMatch Jukebox, you can convert near enough any sound file into another. Though the new verson sucks, so try and get one of the older versons if you can.

Or if you really can't be bothered to download or buy, play the Midi file on window media player, then record the sound in audacity. Piece of cake.
