Alright, I've decided on my next instruments

What kind of guitar is that? Peavey?

Yeah, it's a Peavey JF-1 (hollowbody).

Coo. The only Peavey guitar I've played is the Raptor, but that was pretty good for a starter guitar. I also like their Delta Blues amp.

I've never tried their amps.




Probably going for the 5 string version instead.

The Peavey looks nice, but hollowbodies tend to look classy anyway, and I've seen nicer.

I've got a dot and I played one like that. it was nice but i thought the price was too much. I buy used anyways.

I also don't the toggle switch placement. I hate that les pauls have them there. you accidentally switch it or when you cant to switch it you can't. I would also stear away from gold hardware it fades pretty fast and looks crappy.

I really love my hollow body though and i'm putting some new hardware and pick-up's in in in a few weeks. The thing will hold a note for ever.

Yeah, I don't like the placement of the toggle switch. It's not good if you're trying to be Pete Townshend.

Nice guitar, but if you're going for that type of guitar I recommend getting the Ibanez AF75 or something similar in their shops. Because it has a much nicer sound than Peavey. Even though I love Peavey, I'm just saying what would probably be better for you.

Go for the 5 String Bass :D They're awesome.

i really like the semi-acoustic guitars,their sound is awsome, but i dont like much their bodies. i recommend the Ibanez AF75 too, but the Peavey isnt bad also.

Nah I'm not saying the Peavey is bad, at all. I'm just saying the Ibanez beats it's sound. Seriously though, I LOVE playing on the Ibanez AF75. Seriously it's sooooo nice.

I'm thinking about the AS93.

My old college teacher has that one. It sounds great, but I still prefer the AF75, I don't know what it is, just has a jazzier sound to me.

What's cool about the AS93 is that it's got a thinner body. (GO FOR THE BLUE!!!) haha. It still sounds great though.

Ibanez guitars are awesome, I was going to get one of the SRX series I guess, but then I changed my mind

The SR506 is EPIC.

My friend has that bass. Just to warn you, it constantly pops whenever you plug in the lead. Even if the volume is down, which is fairly strange. Might just be the way the battery it wired up or something.

But they might have improved on it, you never know. Just play it before you actually buy it.

Never tried the Peavey, but I strongly recommend the Ibanez. I have an AFS75T. It's basically an AF with a whammy bar. It sounds phenomenal (especially for the price). Definately my favorite guitar. At least give it a shot before you make the big purchase.

Yes, it takes a while to get use to (along w/ the raised bridge) but I can't imagine ever getting rid of it.

It's probably your mates particular bass. I always try my stuff before I buy it, though.

I'd recommend going with the 4 string or 5 string. 6+ strings is kind of a novelty. My friend owns that bass, and uses it to play "Jerry was a Race Car Driver" and that's about it. The extra strings get in the way for most songs.

I believe it also has active pick-ups, which could account for the popping? I'm a passive pickup guy, so I don't know too much about actives.

There's nothing wrong with going for a 6-string bass. I have wanted a 7-string electric for ages for the exact same reasons as you.

A 7 string, eh? I don't think I've ever seen a seven string. I've seen seen 12 strings, 10, strings, etc. But I don't think I've ever seen a seven string.
