they don't sell em on their website, (why?) they don't sell them online, they don't sell em with catalog's, they don't take phone orders... how do i buy a new MESA amp? i have to have a Road King II or i am going to die. literally. i'm not kidding. i'll die without that amplifier. just LOOK at this...

http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Rectifier_Series/roadking/roadking.htm

i've been playing my friends triple rectifier, and i have NEVER heard tone like that. another friend has a road king 1, and it is so amazing, i literally felt sick playing it.

the tone blows soldano, engl, marshall, vox, fender - out of the water. the cleans are the weakest point, and they are better then JC120 or Tweed cleans.

the durability! god! every single soldier joint, every single cap and pot and wire, is inspected and hand inserted, everything! these things are built like tanks! they are invincible!

the versatility is unmatched - #1 amp in the world where that is concerned. it has 4 6l6s and 2 EL34s, and you can mix and match which ones are active, to play at 30, 50, or 120 watts. and look! 4 channels, each one with 3 different tube use settings, to get infinite number of tones... and not to mention a bizarre amount of backpanel features.

so, enough ranting about the best amp in the world. how do i BUY one new?

we may disagree on a lot *** but when it comes to our equip we like the same exact ***. to buy a mesa you got to buy it in stores. guitar center is a carrier there one of those everywhere. i shop there though they are evil corporate ***s they are the Walmart of guitars. convenient ***s (i normally recommend local shops but such is the way of capitalism i suppose evil and great all at once) but i my opinion vox still has something that mesa just can't completely get.

ps now i hate you making remember stuff i can't have

RA: it's sickening, isn't it? the universe won't just give us whatever we want. it makes me bitter. i'll call guitar center tomorrow... do they have to have it in stock, or do they have to order it, or what?

The definition of it.

"Mesa Boogie Amp - An amp that will kick the ass of your amp unless you own another Mesa Boggie, then they will both make clones of John Petrucci and battle with their awsome-ness to the death [or when the speaker blows up]"

Incase you were wondering, I made that definition myself lol.

that's pretty much it. i seriously don't think you can say there is a better amp. first of all, you could take a mesa, and smash another amp to splinters with it, and it'd work fine afterwards. second of all, the tone... it's indescribable. third of all, it does your favorite artists tone, too, only with more finess and grace.

the recto tubes actually give it a tighter, louder sound, by converting the AC current to DC, allowing it to drive the tubes in a more linear, predictable, fashion, meaning you can increase the gain in the amp to massive levels without sound issues other amps will experience when the tubes are driven so hard. it also has a characteristic 'sag' that is very desirable. i understand MESA amps are not noisy, too.

a Vox A30 with give a Mesa a run for it money it money through.

Ps they both have to be high end. low end mesas just don't have the tone and the voxotonics or valotonics (don't know spelling or which it is) suck ass

low end mesa's are the equivalent of high end other brands, usually, and they are still great. the solid state vox amps are awful.

the only vox i ever heard that was really special was the heritage model and the brian may, the AC30 blows. it's completely average.

I've seen Mesas at Guitar Center. eBay sometimes sells new amps, but you can't be sure if the seller is lying to you or not.

I haven't tried em out yet, but I really want to.

i love mesas but there low end is just bad and ac30 i guess i can't remember all names could of been the heritage modal i don't know it was a special one through and it had a killer tone it was a combo not a head. those two are the only brands i have ever liked. fenders are ok they got a few good ones. i hate Marshall they suck so much maybe the old ones where good (never played one) but the new one are just bad i'm sorry.
i really want to play an orange never have.

^ Yeah I wanna try Orange amps and Budda amps as well. The only stores I've seen those in are 'boutique' stores though, and the one close to me is run by douches who will kick you out if don't have $1000+ in cash on you.

Well, I CAN'T drive, even if I wanted to. Soon though... I will have the license. :P

But to Baud, have you checked the Dealer Section on Mesa's site? Maybe to get an idea of how far you'll have to go?

Good luck in your search, Captain Baud!

There's a shop here in Ames, Iowa that ONLY carries Mesa Boogie amplifiers. They line the walls. It's beautiful.

There's also a store across the street that sells Orange and other boutique amps. I can see how some people admire their tone, but I really didn't like them. British distortion reminds me of bumblebees.

Great choice in amp. Sorry I didn't reply to this topic sooner, I didn't see it.

Everyone answered your question, so no real point in me saying anything to that.

But damn, I'm coming over when you get that amp. I bet you're going to blow everyone's minds away.

my friends got their on ebay, but i want it new... just cause.

yeah, i'm going to get that 120 watt road king and a 4x12 RK mesa cab... it's gonna be breaking windows a mile away!

me and my friend are selling all our cabs, amps, etc, replacing it ALL with 2 mesa half stacks (he's gonna get the triple rectifier) and a 15 inch powered speaker fed by a little mixer. it'll be half the size our setup is now. and sound 10x better. it's mesa... i mean... holy *. best tone in the world, as far as i'm concerned.

I considered buying a Mesa Heartbreaker on Ebay, but alas, I was outbid. Craigslist occasionaly has them, and I have seen them at Sam Ash. The best bet is to find a private high end dealer.

A road king! Damn, I'm jealous! RK mesa cab make the "Orange" amps, don't they? That's going to be an awesome combo. Hopefully you'll be able to show that off to us when you guys get them.

Brody, you should check if there's another one online now. Unless you bought something else instead already.

It should have been obvious, Skold.

Plus, not everything from the stores is cheap. You can get them cheaper when you get them online. That's how it works these days. Olden days are over.

yeah Skold your so old

but most large "wal-mart" guitar stores like guitar center will meet online prices.

I would not buy a guitar mail order unless they have a nice long return period and no restocking fees. with old "stores" it's nice to touch and play and get your gurbby hands all over a guitar before laying down any cash.

yeah, that's what I love to do too, Telecrater. I once played a £3000 guitar in the giant virgin music store in London, and my friend pluged it into a bass amp... The joys of taking the blame for someone else. Don't plan on going back there for a while! haha. But that place was amazing. 5 levels!! And each one was massive. I loved it.
