Got banned from the UG forums for this

Someone asked if Bass was easy to play, and I responded with this.

"If you wanna play punk (like bowling for soup and the like), sure."

Someone else responded to me with something like "I'm not even gonna bother"

I replied with "If you think playing 3 chord punk songs is hard, then you are mislead. If you wanna be a true musician like Victor Wooten and the like, then Bass is NOT easy".

Banned for that? I sense a group of Nazi mods over there.

I haven't been banned yet but in a forum I started on who's the best drummer alive (my vote being Peart) somebody came and said that Neil Peart can't keep a 4/4 rock beat, this caused me and another Rush fan to get into it wiht this guy and I ended up challenging him to a rock-off after he claimed The Trees meant nothing, anyways after I challenged him somebody reported the thread and it was locked before hardly anyone got to vote for their pick.

Thing is... I agree with the guys statement that "Genres don't have difficulties attatched to them" on that forum (went and found the topic you were on about). The bass player in my punk band doesn't play just the root notes of the chords. Just because it's punk doesn't mean it's easy to play. Plus, there's so many sub genres and off shoots of punk.

However, I don't think you should have been banned for that.

I got a response from one of the mods saying "nazi this". Haha, man, that just made my night!

Agree with you there Doz, I just started out on bass, it is not at all easy, specially with no help at all with getting the basic of bass, put hey I'm coming up with Rage Against The Machine style lines, shame they don't fit with my bands songs, well the ones were finishing off anyway.

Haha, sometimes my bassist comes up with funky basslines and we try it out in our punk songs anyway. Usually we go for a some solid harmonies, little runs and arpeggios though.

i wouldnt say punk is easy, thts not the right word, not all punk is 3 chords, although some is, u shouldnt have been banned. maybe u did somthing else to p.o. the mod? check other forums or stuff?

I've not been over there yet, sounds like there is to much negativity for it to be really helpful.

soy el is like yo soy or i am, el is the or he. so it could be i am he. che could mean chico or boy, or i think its slang for somthing. im not sure. i dont think we should be guessing whos the mod when we dont know.
