What kind of recording gear does everyone use? I would like to be able to record but I don't want to spend a lot of money. Is there an affordable setup for recording on your PC? |

Should be much better than any old PC mic.
Also, you can plug in a double jacked speaker chord into your amp's headphone input jack (via the headphone adapter), then plug the other end into the PC's Mic input, and you can record that way.
I use a workstation, and I connect it to my amp via RCA cables, that way I can record more than one thing. |

I found an old mic in the closet but I can't get it to work, it only picks up if you blow in it. I'll take your advice and pay a little visit to radio shack. Thanks lance. |

heh....didn't know GC had mic's that cheap. i think i'm gonna have to
go pick one up from my local GC now :) maybe one a little bit better.
edit - actually i like the the idea of the headphone jack directly to
the pc mic input jack. my vox ad30vt should sound pretty damm good.
i have tried this with my line 6 pocket pod and it sounded like utter crap. |

Its an old thread but what the hell, I'm amusing myself.
I'm using a Tascam DP01FXCD. Eight tracks, two simultaneous inputs, one for Guitar one for a Mic. Fairly simple to use. Records to 40 gig HD and burns CD's for demos. I find the quality to be good. Unfortunately this model has been discontinued but you might still be able to find one out there for sale and it would be less than the $499.00 I paid for it. This has been replaced by the DP02, which is priced with different options. I have perhaps 30 original songs recorded on it now with multiple guitar parts and up to three part vocal harmonies. I would suggest a self contained unit like this if you can afford it, rather than the computer route, though my band is using that approach using a firepod and logic pro. Good luck. |

- Roland VS-880 Workstation (X-Spanded, 4 channel simultaneous inputs, etc)
- Behringer XM8500 Microphone (with Rapco M Series XLR/1/4" chord)
- My PC
