Per day how much time do you put into music? I play at least 2 hours a day but when I really get connected with what I'm trying to learn or play, I'll sit for 6 or 8 hours at night when everything is quiet and just play. |

I spend my lunch hour playing, my night playing, and my after-noons playing. Other than music, I have no life. Music is all I got going on, really. |

It varies, sometimes I play a lot, sometimes a little... sometimes somewhere in between. |

I don't play nearly as much as I should, although lately it's been between one and two hours a day. The best are those random urges to begin playing, and something beautiful comes out.
To make the most out of playing, it's best to stay constant and not build up your hours upon one day then break for a day or two. One hour a day is better than 3 hours every three days. |

I agree. Regular practice is very good... but somedays I just lose myself in guitar and burn out for a few days. |

When I first started playing it was rediculous, I'd play all night in my room, hours and hours, then I'd go to school and catch up on sleep during my classes. Now it's a few hours a day, some days I purposely don't play though, I tend to be better after a day or 2 of not playing. |

like mattmurray, when i first started i was playing no less than 8 or 10 hours a day. thats all i did. now im at the point where i play when i feel like i need to...which is pretty much everyday...for a few hours here and there...but i go two or three days sometimes without playing. |

I haven't a clue how often or long I play.My wife's a TV junkie and I usually sit playing (my guitar) unplugged while it's on. So I suppose it could be many hours, though how much CONSTRUCTIVE playing I do might be a different question altogether! |

I practice as long as I need to. If I'm learning a new song, I'll usually break it up into hour blocks, learning parts and then sitting on it for a day, then moving on.
I'll probably play my guitar about 2-3 hours a day, every day, throughout the week. Some days I don't play as much, some days I play more, it really depends on how much I have going on.
During exam week, I try not to touch my guitar the entire time, cause it distracts me from time I should be spending on more important things for the time.
I wish I could just give up engineering to be a music major... but I would never be able to get the $100k+ invested in this college.
