Yep. That's it! I have'nt worked on it in a couple of months. I need more luthier tools. I don't know if I should continue to work on it myself or bring it to this guy that will finish it for about $300.

OK, guys! The starp is'nt included. The seller is an old gipsy musician in a little hungarian village. Just his wife's sister can use internet. The whole price was 30.000,- HUF. It's about 130 USD.

I'm a jurnalist, but now I'm working in a musical instrument shop, and in my free time i'm restorating guitars. Now I'm working on a Gibson Les Paul Lite '1997. It was in wet place, and the original lackier gone down in little peeces. I will refinish it, and the price will about 100 USD.

I have an idea for your headplate. I don't know how it goes in USA, but in Hungary in every hipermarket is a little shop, named Mister Minit, and some others. They repairs shues, copies keys, and makes nameplates from laminated plastic. These plates are laminated from different color flakes, and these guys can make everithing with a CNC miller, what you designed on your computer. I will post a photo of the original headplate, and you can reproduce it whith this way.
The guitar will arrive on monday.

Cool TyborgHUN!

I don't think I'm going to restore it to what it looked before. I'm going to keep it natural and glue a veneer on the headstock. I'll post pics as I work on it.

Is that a real Les Paul or a copy? If it's a real one, you got a great deal.

One more thing. Don't worry about your English. As long as we understand each other!

Awesome! Are you restoring it? You will find that it is made well. It is made out of mahogany, maple and walnut. The joints are done well also. The hardware and electronics are kind of cheap though. But as is, it still sounds great1

Yes. I just turned back neck pickup to the right position. There are "Patent applied for made by goto" (Gotoh) pickups. The sound is wery good "creamy". The tuners are not so good, and in the elecrtonic is some strange thing. For example the 3 little switch is out of circuit. I found a schematic of the original BC Rich. I will restore it.
I want to save it with original parts. Just some little srcews, and the 3th knob lost, but it is Gibsonlike, not to hard to buy one. (or 3)

Hondo II was great. My H II P-Bass is amazing. It's basically an exact replica of a '69 p bass.

Wow!
I love that Hipshot bridge.
But I didn't found a hungarian Hipshot dealer. I must to be satisfied with a sipmple bridge.
I decided to change tuners too, but I don't think about lockings. It's a fix bridge guitar, I think, an oil pattented tunerset is enough.

Cool. That should do just right.

I'm obsessed with shaping this guitar! It's coming out great but I should stop. I might over sand it.

Well, I'm still sanding! I'm sanding it all by hand with a finer grits of sand paper for fear of sanding away too much with a palm sander. I don't get a chance to get to it too often either. It's coming along though. I put a thin curly maple veneer on the headstock to cover the joint line and that came out pretty good. I also radius sanded the neck to a 12in radius. As you can see, I didn't attempt to remove the white paint in the cavities of the body. That would be way too much work and it will be all covered up anyway. Next is to fine sand all the lines and scratches out and then even finer finish sanding.

I'm done! Well, not all done. I still need new pickups and electronics but this is it for now. I made it fretless. It sounds so cool.

I applaud thee, especially for making it a fretless. The guitar really looks beautiful. I hope you're keeping that natural wood look.

Hi hommies!

As I also have a Hondo II guitar (Sg copy 74-75), I read all the posts to see if you had already dealt with a similar problem but it seems that you didn't so here I am with my question! ;)

So, I found in a friend's garage a Hondo II EG-502 but in a really bad state (mic unplugged, ...) and I'd like to know whether it's worth spending time repairing it or not ^^

Here is the link to the pictures (https://www.dropbox.com/home/HONDO%20II)

And if you have any information about it (origins, value, types of pickups, ...), they are welcome! :)

Thanks a lot

I don't know. If you want to repair it only for the potential vintage value it may have, you might be wasting your time. I did this project just for the experience and to have something cool and different.

I was givin the exact same guitar when I was around 13 and I still Have it. I am 47 about to 48. I suppose it was a year old when I got it. That would make it about 35 years old. I still have mine by the way. It is being restored also. one thing I have to get is a brass nut which it originally came with.It was a great sounding Guitar with great sustain.
It was my first guitar and I have had many since. I Cant wait to get it finished.

That's cool philroyce. I've had mine since sometime in the 80s too. I made the mistake of making it fretless. It's cool and all but I find that I never play it. One day when I have the time and money I'll put frets back on.
