Im gonna buy 2 Wharfdale pro titan 12" passive speakers today, I play solo instrumental acoustic music and I already have a 65watt Laney A1 amp(to small for most venues) to use with the two speakers as a monitor. What you guys think?
Feedback ASAP would be much appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Reinhardt

I would not recommend that you do this. A guitar amp of that size is not meant to run PA speakers like this. I think if you get these speakers you might as well get a power amp and a mixer or a powered mixer. Then you'll have a small PA system. Run your guitar amp into the mixer using a mic or a line out on the guitar amp and let these speakers be what the audience hears and use your guitar amp as a personal monitor.
running these speakers off of a little guitar amp that is designed to run a 10" woofer only will most likely result in a damaged guitar amp. |

lol, no man, these are passive speakers. They have their own power. They just run through the amp to get some reverb effects and stuff like that, so im only using the amp as a monitor. |

@Reinhardt,
I took a look at the links you posted. These speakers do NOT have their own power supply/amp. If you are going to buy these at a store you would notice that before you put down your money, but if you are buying these online STOP!
definition: "Passive speakers require outboard amplifiers to produce sound, while active speakers have amplification built in".
I hope you get this message in time to make the right choice.

Yes. Phip is right. Active speakers are powered. Passive speakers require a power amp. |
