Do anyone have any names for me on any music programs that detect what notes you play on guitar? I think I can find it very usefull in composing ect. . .
Thanks in advance. |

I suppose you mean playing your guitar and then transform what you play into midi and notation, well, that is impossible, there is no actual way you can do that, no technology is capable of that, and I doubt there will be, is physically impossible in my opinion, cause of the limitations of midi when transforming everything, anyways there could be a way, with a midi guitar and something that can capture midi like guitar pro, Anvil studio, FL studio and so on, still it would be very hard |

@AlexB
you can do this (i do) but its a very expensive process that i use, only when doing a fast score for a studio gig.
my Godin LGX-Pro has 6 (the bridge) separate sensors that lead to my Roland GR33 Git-Synth ...
from the GR33 i run to a Mixer(etc blah blah blah)AND AT TIMEs use its midi out to move one my main keyboards and/or outboard synth modules such as the Roland JV1080
now that the signal has been "tagged" via the JV1080, I rouute it through the Alesis IO/26 (Firewire interface w/ great MIDI-ability) and 'in'-'on' to a program that handles MIDI well such as Cubase 4, Sonar, Reason--etc (usually)
from there i notate like so:
do all above..
Record MIDI into one of the above , etc , then copy/paste OR export the MIDI file to one of the above programs (Sonar Prod is nice and easy for this) that uses 'Staff' as an option and editing tool.
Simple Path =
Guitar w/ MIDI Pick-up -> GR33 -> MIDI Out -> Midi IN on Firewire interface -> Sonar-Prod (to save time) or any other MIDI + Staff programs.
didn't write this to freak ya out, Reinhardt (btw .. loved yer last Vid!), I just wanted to show how damned expensive it is to do (and i wanted to show AlexB that : yes, you CAN do that and another: btw .. loved yer last Vid!)
I only have this set-up/ability/whatever due to a few years of doing scores and background music for the , now defunct, company(eaten by HGTV)'3-Ring Audio' who "did" the backgrounds for many Jupiter Entertainment touched TV shows such as 'Histories Mysteries' and others like it.
Deadlines are hard and fast as hell in "post-production" so i had to adapt my Scoring from the Keyboard to the Guitar, as i write much faster with a guitar.
thats it. i dont have much use for it now, as i no longer do LOT of "mersh" work.
The synth is still loads of fun (and it freaks my young (9-10-12) students out, lol, tohear a Sax come outta the Guitar hahaha.
but seriously man, unless something changed overnight yer looking at a VERY large stack 'o green and a big headache if ya wanna run from guitar -> staff
i've gone back to the olde fashioned way
Staff-Paper and Black-Pen (not pencil)
RAWK!

Hey. Carl, yeah I knew that kind of process, its like when using the pick up of the Roland GR 20 or similar, your guitar sensors act the same way, but I meant, there is no way (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong) of getting midi notes when for example, playing your acoustic guitar with a mic plugged into some kind of software,I think that was the stuff he was meaning |

Lick By Neck (www.lickbyneck.com) does this process all the time for their tabs. It's a great resource :)
They also list ways of how they create their MIDI content and other ways of doing it as well. |
