@raptorclaws
that is awesome!
@mici
I'm with you on the Floyd Rose, they may "rob tone" but after playing with a strat and the standard trem on that for years, I am going to never use anything for whammy stuff if its not a floyd. too much tuning, and so I've blocked my strats trem, its now a hardtail and sounds much better than before, sustain is a definite increase with blocking. |

Agreed. Actually, I have NEVER had a whammy bar in my hand so it's kinda weird to say, but I'm either gonna use the real thing (Floyd Rose) or not gonna play at all. However, as with everything else, there is an exception here, too. I think I WOULD use the whammy bar of some Epiphone Casino or at least not remove it from the guitar (I don't think you can remove one of them, anyway, so...).
As you said, Case, there would be too much tuning to do and you still don't get anything close to what Floyd Rose does, do you? |

nope, Floyd's let me go till the strings go completely slack and then I come back up in perfect tune(or a couple cents off). Definitely worth it. I got tired of playing something like "Eruption" and having to hear those chords right after the first dive be completely out of tune. Annoyed the hell out of me.
BUT the only thing that I don't like about Floyd's, is changing strings on the original style ones. That is a very time consuming thing if you don't know how to do it right.
I guess that's the only trade off though, for great tuning stability and fun divebombs ;) |
