Okay, I downloaded a VST plug-in, mainly because I want to record some stuff, but don't have a laptop yet to do so with my amp being mic'd, anyways, I have it up and running, but a couple of problems.
First, I can't get my guitar's signal from the line-in input to go through the program.
Second, After the first thing is solved, how do I get it to go through a recording software like Audacity?
any input greatly appreciated,

You usually have to click on start, control panel, sound settings and in there are some tabs at the top (not music tabs) it should let you change what recording device you can use. Change all the recording settings to whatever it is you're using. You usually need to restart after you do this.
Then for Audacity there's a little selection thing which lets you choose from about 5 options, you wanna choose either line in or something... (Not near it) you could just select one at a time and see which one works |

IF that doesn't work then your VST installation has probably stolen the sound, and that's a b!tch to recover. |

Make sure that in audacity edit/settings and there AudioI/O playback and recording is choosed your soundcard that are in use.
for checking the VST thing check

I suggest you to check out www.kreatives.org/kristal

thanks for the input guys, and I only put audacity because that seems to be one that people have or have used before. I'll give Kristal a try, thanks again.
and the two VST's that I downloaded are free ones, because I don't want to spend gobs of money on them right now, called FrettedSynth's Free Amp 3 and Tube Baby by Niko. Can't really say how the sound quality is on them quite yet ;) |

Yes,your problem is that you're not routing the signal into the VST,thats why you need to load the vst on krystal or Cubase Or Ableton Live, perosnally i dont like audacity for that! |
