Keeping a trem system in tune

I have this question about how to keep a non-locking tremolo system more in tune. How? I have tried using some graphite in the nut but, that is a minimal difference. I don't really have the time or money to install a Floyd Rose and just want to get some ideas about how to achieve better tuning stability. Any input would be very helpful.

you got 2 options.

the springs ont he back of the body should be equal to the tension on the bridge. You can add more or diffrent strings, or you can take the screws on the back and tighen them down.

if you screw in the screws you will not be able to use the trem to make the notes higher but they will go lower.

tighten the tuners as tight as they can get, thats about all you can do. is it a strat youre playing?

I used to have the same problem when I had a Strat. Slightly too much force on the trem and there goes your tuning!
I don't have that problem now, I've just treated myself to a good second hand G@L S-500 (so-called 'superstrat')Tribute that I spotted going for the right price on ebay. It has the patented G&L dual fulcrum trem and I doubt that even heavy shredding would spoil the tuning on this guitar. I can't speak highly enough of it. For my money it's just as good as a Floyd.

Just so everyone knows, I was reading this article about how EVH used to keep his trem in tune on the first couple of albums(from lack of Floyd Rose), and he said he would use a Brass nut with extra wide grooves and NO string trees(tees). I took the strings out from under the string trees and I haven't had any trouble with dropping out of tune like I did before.

looking into those pretty heavily too, my main concern now is the nut and the strings' ability to slide over and through the grooves
