Amp problem

goodtunes: my real point is that I remember EMB was a very new player... and it's not fun memorising terms so he shouldn't be pressured into it. He can pick it up over time, it won't take long.

i am told i am kinda smart, so i think i can memorize them easyly, i hope...

I agree with doz here. people should be able to ask anything no matter how minor it seems to someone with more experience. everyone here went through a time when everything was new and confusing. (I'm still there)lol.

I have another amp problem... I was playing yesterday and my sound was a little off. I turned the bass down a little and it killed my amp. I moved the power cord a little and it came back on. It did this several times. It would play fine but if I touched the bass it turned my amp off. Any ideas?

You have some kindof hooped amp would be my guess.

Did jiggling the power cord restore operation each time? I'm trying to determine if you have a problem with the power cord or the bass control itself. If you've had the amp for a long time you may have a few "dead" spots on the control (some control cleaner would help with that)but dead spots should not kill the amp. Sounds to me like a sloppy electric outlet, bad power cord or cracked solder connection in the amp.
try using a different outlet, try gently tapping the amp when it goes out to see if there is a connection problem. See if you can narrow down the area of trouble.

Yea the amp came on every time I moved the power cord, but it would play as long as I wanted to as long as I didn't touch the bass control. It's a new amp I've had it about a month so it's still under warranty. I just hate to take it in if it's something simple. I played it today and it's fine now, but something has to be going on.

intermittant problems are the worst! I'd take it in and see if they'll swap it out for a new one. Don't take the cover off the unit while it is still in warranty (don't want to void warranty) besides there's nothing in there that you can do much about anyway.

take it in then.

and remember that that technique is called a palm mute, when you resdt the side of your right hand on a string to mute it it's marked by a . under the number in a tab this is a fairly simple riff which uses palm mutes (abreviated P.M's)
