So I'm wondering how all of you learned to play chords properly, by properly, I mean holding the string to the fret without your fingers not staying in place, I try to stretch my fingers as far as they can but they just wont stay in place on the fretboard. ( unless im playing a D or something where as my fingers don't need to stretch that much anyways; i can do that just fine)When it comes to me holding down 2 strings on the same fret, my fingers won't do that either, will i just have to try and try until i get it right? Do i just need to relax my hands more or stretch them more? someone please help me understand how to do this right! xD

It will get easier with practice. The more you play the more muscle memory you will get. If your not very experienced you may be getting ahead of yourself. get the easy chords down till you can do them in your sleep then ease into the more difficult chords.

Yeah, practicing will help with finger strength. All good things in due time! Welcome to the forum!

Do proper stretching and warmups with your hands-that will help immensely.

What I do before I grab the axe is I grab my hand(left or right) and pull my wrist inward towards me(palm facing me)not too hard, but just enough to feel a slight burn in your forearm(hold for a 10 count). Then I reverse the hands direction(palm away from me) and pull back on the fingers enough to get a good stretch in my forearm.

Watch this-he is able to show and explain this better than I can with text :P

Doing that for a few minutes before playing will definitely help you get the most out of practice-and it has massive benefits for being able to make those stretches possible when doing chords.

as time goes on and you keep playing your fingers and the ligaments stretch out and your hands become more limber and your fingers start to work more interdependently of each other.

I remember how much a struggled with F for the longest time when I was starting out. Bar chords were never an issue it was just that fricking on on the 1st fret that I fought with.

One of the things I did to try and work out those issues is seek out songs that have chords that your having problems with. start slow making sure your playing the chord correctly until you can play with the recorded version at the same tempo.

My victory over F was a Bob Dylan song Hurricane.

Keep working on it it will get easier don't give up.
