So I'm curious about what all of you are planning on doing this summer musically and what you hope to learn.
I myself am working on my composition and arranging, guitar technique (accuracy, picking speed, legato, sweeping, rhythm) and piano technique. I'm also reading one or two music textbooks and have been working on improving my skills in synthesis.
I've piled a lot up on my plate but this is all stuff I've been wanting to do for a while but haven't had a chance to due to commitments to school etc.

I plan on learning these songs all the way through (hey you, right of passage, I dont know.) while also taking on one lesson from guitar world every 3 weeks. Im also working on staying with a set practice schedule which has not gone well for me in the past.

Basically using a synthesiser to create my own sounds from scratch by choosing wave forms running them through effects and filters.
Also @Gshred I'm still on my school summer holidays as well. In England they end September, although since I'm (hopefully) going university next year I have until the 1st of October off

Ha, since I have had very limited time the last 4 months to do anything musically whatsoever, I am still working on learning triads sadly. I want to make sure I am reasonably solid in this regard before advancing to the next topic in my jazz lesson book. I found some online video lessons that make learning them slightly easier than what is described in my book. I should say these lessons describe learning some applications of triads and practical ways of practicing much better - the jazz books explains them just fine.
Maybe I should further clarify. lmao I understand triad theory and it is pretty simple. Root, 3rd, 5th and they have two inversions as well. Simple. I need to spend time learning some of their applications and spend time practicing since my finger strength and stretching is poor. My pinky certainly doesn't like stretching and it is always angled. Practice is what I need!
I spent about 75 minutes yesterday playing and probably 50 minutes of that was devoted to triads. The rest of the time was spent learning the song "River of Deceit" by Mad Season. Beautiful song.
Sometimes hearing a song like this is a little frustrating, because while it is probably fairly simple for someone to come up with such a beautiful guitar part, I sometimes think I lack the creativity to do it myself. I don't seem to know where to start! Hopefully this just comes in time and my creativity will come out when I learn more about music and play. I am becoming more of a patient man and the learning process is fun, so hopefully it amounts to something in the future.

My summer is over in two weeks... :(
Musically, I'm trying to finish up my "Recording Studio". Thinking about getting another mic and some pickups for my acoustic guitars. Wanna start laying some tracks down soon.
