I bought a guitar magazine that had advertisements in it for "natural picks" So I started searching online and checked out the site Bossardpicks.com I found picks made of wood, stone, abalone, horn and even fossils of dinosaur bone. A single pick runs from 4-20 US dollars.
Anyone know if these are worth the money? |

stone picks? That's hilarious! I can imagine a wooden pick that can be playable but stone.. omg |

The Abalone pick is beautiful. And the Dino Bone picks are pretty amazing too.
My logic is that if I have some respect for the craftsmanship of the pick, it doesn't break I might be motivated not to loose the damn thing so quickly. :) |

My old guitar teacher had a Stone pick . Lots of jazz players used them. They give off a loud crisp sound from the strings. The different materials in the picks make different sounds. When I first started playing I used the bread clips as picks. |

Thanks Bodom, so you noticed a difference in the sound. I've used those bread clips before too. old blockbuster cards. Even used a straight pin once didn't like it much but... |

Abalone picks are very nice, you can get one along the seashore..
But my grandfather told me that there are also picks made from a "Pawikan"(Sea Turtle)..
There are very nice picks, but I prefer steel ones, its easy for me to use steel picks..
When there's no other picks that can be used, I cut some plastic ..
I hate that my picks always get lost.. [or maybe my younger sister(always steal every stuff from me)
"who dosn't know how to use a guitar" get all of them and later on, give it to her "friends" to have friends?!]

Haha these old topics scare me for some reason. It's like, there are strangers in the forum. But they're just old members I never got used to. But still. I seem to get slightly freaked out by it every time I see one for some reason... |
