Has anybody used a set of these?
I'll try a set if anybody has positive comments.

I'm not a fan. They don't sound as bright imo.

How? Like this: Flatwounds are smooth and jazzy but they are not as bright as luthier says. I don't have a jazz guitar, but i do have a couple of guitars, so i thought I might take a try with them if anyone liked them. Since they are smoother than normal strings, they don't make that squeaky string noise. And like you said, gssyrinx, they are easy on your frets and fingers.

Anybody but luthier tried them?

yeah I like them. They really got that mellow sound and if that's what you want look no further. Just one thing they are much thinker strings start at 12s (if you want ones that are good anyway [IMP]) so your going to need adjustments. Also their bad for your "rock" solos as the G is wound. That's not saying their bad for soloing but it has wound G and their not bend able in they same way as a plain G. But as the G is supposed to be wound you wont have the Turing issues or as bad (I still keep the G bit flat)

anybody else tried them?

Thanks RA.

I found some half-wounds, but they are not in stock anywhere. They should be somewhere between the two types of string.
