how the hell

do you tune to g#, g#-d#-a#-c#-f#-a#,i,m tryin to learn the staind song outside and i don,t know how to tune my guitar to g#,i can tune my guitar to every other tune,just never had to use this tune so if anybody could tell me how to get this done that would be awesome,like i know how the play the 7th fret on the low e string along with the open a string and tune the low e string til it sounds like the open a string then your in drop d,if anybody can tell me how to do use that strategy with that g# tuning it would very much appreciated thanx,,,,,

dude you got to set up you guitar for that ***, and get some thick strings. to me drop g# is kinda dumb.

is it drop G# or is it... lift G#?

But in a more serious note, I have no idea how to tune to G# or even why one would for a song purpose(not talking about you dude, more about the guitarist for staind). Honestly tunings after a certain point(Drop C, D Std) don't really get 'heavier' sounding or feeling, they just get lower :/ honestly I compare Slayers "God Hates Us All" and "Christ Illusion" to "Reign in Blood" and "South of Heaven"/"Seasons in the Abyss". The latter 3(Reign-Seasons) are all in Eb standard tuning, whereas the first two(God-Christ) is in mostly C# Standard with a couple of drop B tunes and a couple songs written with 7 string guitars(assuming they are also downtuned) and the sound was any heavier than Reign, South, or Seasons. It's just a little lower and a bit muddy in places. Well now that I've digressed horribly, I don't know how to tune to Drop G#. Though I would think that setting your tuner up for 6 semitones flat would get you to A# standard then just tune do what your "D" string is. But you might want to sub-out your strings for 6 Bass strings at this point.

I don't understand where the G# tuning is coming from. After listening I came up with Eb standard tuning playing these chords either barred or cowboy chords. Tune down to Eb and try -- E D G Asus2. If you must play G# then play this with Eb tuning -- A G C Dsus2. I dunno just a thought?
It's possible the first two chords are sus2 chords also.

Of course you get heavier with lower tunings,messhugah tunes to E standar,an octave lower,and just listen to the rawness of it

Study more the song,maybe your tuning is wrong

I've listened to them before. Heavy? Yes. Heavier than Slayer in Eb? Not really. There is only so much that down tuning will do before it just becomes a bass. Most of the down tuning I hear is just so unintelligible that it isn't useful and it has really no punch, just kind of a soft change. I think it's pretty pointless to tune lower than C# Std.

they probably used Baritone guitars though

I heard 8 strings tuned to something completely different. They couldn't even use power chords because it was so low!
