The chord name left me with a blank...if I think correctly the rest of the chords in this part of the progresson would define it?
Here is the chord in question
x---|----|-----|-----e
x-0-|----|-----|-----b
x---|--1-|-----|-----g
x---|----|--3--|-----d
x---|----|-----|-----a
x---|----|-----|-----E
The other chords in the progression are D Major triad and a G-5 major diminished 5th chord.

So you are playing B, Ab, F
Since your bass is an F, i would say this is Fmsus4. Though, it could also be a B7 without a 3rd... and since there is no 3rd, I can't tell you if it's major or minor unless I saw the context in which you used the triad |

Fmsus4? that makes no sense unless you mean Fmadd11. sus chords arnt major or minor, id say its just an F diminished triad. |

I agree with GMG F dim. triad. As far as the sus 4 or add11, the B note is a #4 or #11 of F. So you get F(1) G#(b3) B(b5)=F dim. triad |

MoshZilla got it right. You can start by looking at it as F Major. If you do, you have a b3 and b5 which means, no more F Major, which means Fdim. A flat 3rd and a flat 5th mean diminished.
But, it doesn't have to be. Don't get too hooked on the idea. Try playing it like this:
e:---
B:-2-
G:-1-
D:-3-
A:-2-
E:---
Not a Fdim anymore. It is now a C#7 (HINT, HINT - The key is F# Major). And if you don't like that, you can play your Fdim like this:
e:---
B:---
G:-1-
D:-3-
A:-2-
E:---
Just something to think about.
Rock on! |

ChicagoMedic says: The other chords in the progression are D Major triad and a G-5 major diminished 5th chord. Wtf is a G-5 major diminished 5th chord?! O.O
(And what kind of progression is that anyway?? Sounds really interesting/scary.)

its something someone and i made a song out of. Yes its a bit scary but without a recording i guess its hard to explain.
I guess maybe f# phrygian might be nice over it....excluding a few nots from the scale
Basically 1 guy arpgeiates (sp?) those chords and I strike them and let them ring out with delay. I play them near the 12th fret though.
Thanks for your help guys! |
