acoustic Guitars

im looking aat a martin, but whats the difference between the martins?? D, O, w/.e theres so many models and stuff...im not educated in acoustics so help?

A lot of the difference is in body style and size. Also the quality of woods and amount of trim (plain or fancy). Martin has a pretty nice web site so go there and check them out.
I have a Martin HD-28 and it is a very nice guitar, with one slight consideration. It has to be treated like royalty. Last year when I put on the heat for the winter the humidity in the room dropped to near zero and the center seam started to seperate. I was in a panic. I took it to a luthier and he fixed it but once again this winter it is starting to spread open again. so now it's in my bedroom with a humidifier running 24/7 in an attempt to keep the humidity at 50%. Now, for the money i paid i'd like to think i wouldn't have to go through this crap but IMO the more you pay the more you have to baby the thing. Am I saying all Martin guitars are like this? NO, because I don't have enough experience to know for sure. And this may be true for all high end guitars. Maybe some other members can comment on that. The best thing to do is spend half a day at the guitar shop and play them all four or five times each to find a size and shape that you like and a sound that you dig as well as string action that is comfy for you. the action on an acoustic will be much more important because they are harder to fret, so pay attention to that.
that's all i can think of at the moment. Hopefully some of the other members will have useful comments

Get a cheap one.

That way when you're playing around the bond fire and one of your drunken buddies tackles you down to impress a girl you,ll only be out a hundered bucks.

I've found that Fender makes some really nice [and cheaper] acoustics. I've played a couple of them at different shops and have been impressed. I'm looking into acoustics right now too. Btw, Elliot, are you rich? You're first acoustic a MARTIN! lol. I wish I could do that haha.

if youre going for a cheaper one i would recommend a Walden or a Cort. but i havnt really played many acoustics, Seagull make good lower end guitars i think

nah im not rich, i was just looing. for me to buy is would be 2 or 3 months working. yeh i work :( and no offense to you ozz but im getting really sick of people saying that. not to you like youtube ppl uk? its like just cause im a kid doesnt mean i didnt work to buy my stuff only diff is that i dont have to spend my work money on groceries, tax, cars, houses, etc... i can spend it on whatever i wnt.

Nah it's fine dude. I know what you mean. I WISH I could find a job, but theres no place in my town that will hire. It's just that I've seen some Martins that are like $5000 lol.

lol well not tht much i was looking for up to 1500 or so...i can usually find work at music places, teaching, etc. it takes a while to generate enough though.

and thanks guys especially phip that helped alot, considering i dont know anything about housing acoustics nor do i know anything about humidity one thing i know is the humidity where i live is ****ed up lol
