So I have a Gregg Bennett RL-2 and i'm wanting new pickups. I play rock, blues, and folk, and love the vintage sound. So what are some suggestions for vintage style humbuckers? |

Check out rockfield pickups. I bought a Michael Kelly Patriot Glory and it has the Rockfield SWC pickups in it and I like them a lot. They don't seems to be as hot as my other guitars, but I really like the way they sound. From heavy to clean they are great. I want to put them in my other guitars now. They are also a lot cheaper than duncans.
Also look for PAF humbuckers. |

active pick-ups would require a 9V which would mean boring holes in the guitar or external attachments |

Does price matter? If not TV Jones. His Filtertron replicas are amazing. (Think the 50's).
I'd stay away from active's. No reason to route your body to put in the battery |

I absolutely love my single coil Boston Blues. When I built my last strat to match SRV's I found that the GFS were much much better than custom shop texas specials. I will be buying a set of 50's repro's for my tele very very shortly. And very soon I will be buying either a set of their 59 HB's or their Retrotron series for my SG re-build
So I guess I really really like them :) |

Nice, i'll give them a try. I've wanted to swap out the switch and pup's on my dot for a while now...not sure how many times i filled out an order and then canceled it....may actually hit submit this time. |
