Okay, I just got a really nice condenser mic, problem is I don't know whether to use that to record my guitar playing(via mic-ing) or use the Dynamic mic to record. Any Help?

try 'em both! its all about YOUR tone man, get something that you like, nd the two different mcs will give you two different sounds.

depends on what guitar, if its an electric guitar, i found it was best to angle a dynamic mic a few inches away from the middle of the amp like so:

from that it gave me a pretty solid all round good sound. the closer you move the mic or more direct it is facing the amp, the more lower frequencies you will get.

but if youre recording an acoustic guitar, i suggest using a condenser near the hole.

placement of the mic all depends on, you guessed it, the tone you want! Just experiment dude.

a dynamic mic works like this: the sound hits a coil of wire behind the diaphram which then vibrates which alters the field of a magnet inside the mic. this change in current makes the signal

a condenser mic on the other hand is built up differently: the sound waves go in and hit a staticly charged plate behind the diaphram. as the diaphram moves, it causes a positive charge to change the field around the charged back plate which then sends a current to where ever. the means of phantom power is needed for charging this plate.

@nightmare
no offense bro, but I'm pretty sure that it would be "I TAKE it" with modern slang

@jcb
Music technology, that sounds hard
