Okay, So I have had my fair share of questions, and have gotten and answer for them. Now, I am wondering if it would be possible to have post-gain(close to power tubes) by pushing the speakers of a solid state. I am getting tired of all preamp gain. I know that ss amps don't have any tubes, but would it be possible to drive the speaker to breaking up a little bit more than with just preamp? |

you could whip out the flow chart for your amp (off the internet) and change the values inside the amp...but i wouldnt recommend that unless you know what youre doing. im sure you can overdrive SS speakers, but youll prolly bust them...i would suggest just buying a pedal. or trade your amp in and get a tube amp. |

i do have a Deluxe Big Muff Pi that I use quite a bit, don't really know if I could get a decent tube amp even used for my amp as a trade. |

Tried pushing my amp's speaker into overdrive today, backed off the preamp gain to about 3/4 of what it's usually at, left the channel volume at 8, bumped the amp's master vol. to 6 (of 10). worked like a charm, just really loud. I would recommend that anyone with an ss amp try backing off the pre-gain of the amp and pushing the speaker into overdrive, it sounds much better. |
