Anything you guys would reccommend for a jazz band try out? I have a clean riff to do and a lick by Niccolo Paganinni [Spelt right?], but I'm not too sure what else would be good. Any good clean riffs? I'm thinking about learning the intro to "Nothing Else Matters" haha. I can see it now, "That was great Jacob, was that your own? If not what wondeful musician composed that piece?" Me - "METALLICA MUTHATRUCKA!!!" lol.

What do you mean? You'd like to learn songs from jazz bands? If so, are you looking for big bands or normal ones?

I'm kind of confused 'cause you've mentioned metallica under Jazz. New genre right there. :p

Metallijazz!! lol. No, I'm gonna play for my schools jazz band in hope of meeting people for a band and hopefully get more inclined to theory and classical music. They just call it Jazz band [It the only one with guitars in it, the other band is just flutes and stuff + vox].

EDIT - lol. I post a topic with the word "Jazz" init and look who I get! lol j/k. Its cool Jazzy.

@ Jazz

I think they call that a "joke". :P

I got into Jazz Band simply because no other guitarists wanted to be, so I dunno how helpful my advice will be, but here're some jazz songs that I enjoy playing (fairly simple too):

- The Girl From Ipanema
- D-Natural Blues
- Straight No Chaser
- Road Song
- Tequila
- Satin Doll

Man... Half of those are Wes Montgomery songs... I need to expand my horizons!

Just for the hell of it, here're some other fun Wes Montgomery songs:

- Four On Six
- West Coast Blues

sounds groovy to me. i'm actually taking a music theory class at a local college after school. in the last few weeks i have been getting into a lot of classical and jazz. i think all the sales, modes, all the different types and kinds of chords is the best way to learn music. i think joining a school band with an actuall teacher would be a great idea.

@ Pat - I do have an ACTUAL teacher. Its private lessons though. I just want to join the band at school to get some connections to people who want to start a band and to get more of an edge classically.
