Need some advice on guitars..

Well I'm saving up for a new guitar £200-300 range, I was planning on getting a nice Epi Explorer for £229 but then noticed it dosen't have 24 frets =[ so I can't play certain Dethklok songs.

So can you advice me to 3-4 models of guitars in that price range, 24frets, humbuckers (HH or HSH Don't mind) and good for high gain and low gain music please, not a flying-V or Jackson RR.

I found these three. They all are HH and have 24 frets. The only thing is that have Floyd-Rose style bridges, which many people don't like (longer time to tune/change strings). I find metal guitars in you price range to be kind of limited, so maybe save a little more if you can't find one you like.

Also, maybe look into Schecter Guitars. I didn't see them on GAK website, but see if they have them in stores near you.

Well I dont want FR I want a hardtail one this time, I was looking at the Jackson Kelly cause I can get the JS30K for £200 but I dunno how good it is. Just to be picky I want a diffrent shape to the superstrat, so a kelly would probably be more suitable.

if you have nothing against bc rich you may want to take a look at a mockingbird. i know some ppl who hate bc rich and some who really like them so idk.. i personally havnt tried one tho

I like the Mockingbird special (red with the mahogany stripes) but its like £400 I think.

I've decided I'll go with the explorer for the moment, come-on dream guitar comes first am I right? haha, then I'll probably by an ibanez RG at somepoint.

that's about..2years savings at my current income -.- I feel I may build a 24fret explorer at somepoint =] keep the neck the same scale length but shorten the fret sizes to fit on the extra 2 =]

You could always get a warmouth guitar... Though you make it your self it's the cheapest way to get it, although your first probably won't be of god like quality...

You can't realy take out the frets and add 2 onto a fret board nutter. It requires really detailed measurements in order to get them on the notes. And since no body makes 24 fret necks at the length of 22, you would have to calculate the distance yourself.

aye -.- you can get extensions to go on though..cause I swear I've seen 24fret explorers...

maybe those are custom built ones, like im sure James hetfields explorer has 24 frets

nutter, that's not how it works. it would not play in tune.

Aye I was thinking the baud, I have studied building a guitar I may build my own at somepoint, you'd need to move the bridge back to allow the increased scale and keeping in tune.

So okay then, i'm a get the epi then maybe an Ibanez RG321 MH, swap out the pick-ups in both when I have the cash.

I think the 24 fret explorers were either custom shoped, or from another company, maybe hand made.

Hm yeah, I found the kellys were 24 frets but there the only kind of explorer shaped (roughly shaped in this case) to have 24frets non-custom..I looking into Dean,ESP,Epi,Gibson and they were all 22Fret -.- ah well.

Yeah my Kelly has 24 frets and I use the high E all the time.
