In light of everyone posting their lyrics, I guess I'll post mine too, I stopped writing them a year or 2 ago though. Thinking of starting up again... After reading them... They sort've suck but not totally. :P
I could only find 1 song though, I guess I deleated the others:
"Acid Rain"
Acidc horrors abound.
Industrial Barrons are crowned.
Spilling terrible waste to the ground.
They sworeit was sound.
Slaughtering those who protested.
Bribes to those who contested.
Their practices never obstructed.
Evil reserected.
The Enviroment degraded.
The honor of old eroded.
The greater good is impeaded.
Our cities degraded.
Men march to possition.
Storm Troopers slay the oppossition.
Men haunted by superstition.
No repesentation.
No one listened
It wasn’t lessend
Acid Rain falls
Man will fall
Planet dieing
Life falling
Acid Rain falls
Man will fall
No life in this hellish land.
Lifeless, undead fight as a band.
No quarter given, not even a tad.
It is our last Stand.
How can we survive this hell?
Savation, does this ring a bell?
It’s like a wizard’s terrible spell.
We’re on our death Knell.
Nothing to drink, no more food.
Fighting the dead, our hopes not good.
The other men always intrude.
Our stalks dry, not good.
Fighting hard, zombies falling.
Men die, their famills crying.
Man fends death away, species surviving.
People must be killing.
Crops die
Acid Rain, you will die
Men fight
Flesh Burns
Acid Rain, you will die
Wars rage
Countries fall
Acid Rain, you will die
Cities Burn
Endless Destruction
Acid Rain, you will die
Sky Melts
You will die
I will live
You starve
No food, starvation.
Here it is
Death up there
Your end
Burning skin, your death.
No one listened
It wasn’t lessend
Acid Rain falls
Man will fall
Planet dieing
Life falling
Acid Rain falls
Man will fall

nature destroys creativity... i will love nature once it is gone. in the meantime, i will admire the canyons of the cities, the rivers of it's streets, the desolation and solitude of it's crowds, the forests of lightposts gleaming like terrestrial stars, and the valleys of its grim alleys and crevices, the volcano's that are factories and refineries and smokestacks, the harsh, surreal junkyards and landfills, the malignant sewer-veins, the silence that can only be found in meaningless noise, the loneliness that can only be found in disconnection from what is present.
as for the song, it's not good. if you're cookie monstering it, it's fine, but then, it doesn't MATTER what you're saying if you are cookie monstering it. |

i like GOOD lyric poems... if he had wrote something like...
"lo, death has reared himself a throne
in a strange city lying alone
far down in the dim west
where the good and the bad and the worst and the best
have gone to their eternal rest
there shrines and palaces and towers
time eaten towers that tremble not
resemble nothing that is ours
around by lifting winds forgot
resignedly beneath the sky
the melancholy waters lie"
i'd be all over that shit. |

@Baud: Do you really think it's fair to compare any of us to Edgar Allen Poe? Come'on that's like saying that someone's shredding capabilities are "Crap" b/c it's not as good as Buckethead's.
@Veqq: This needs alot of work. It's very choppy. I think the only songs this will fit with is thrash metal and if so, you may want to cut the lyrics in like half. When I was reading this, I felt like I was hearing the beginning of Big Gay Al's song in the Southpark movie.
"Bombs flying...People dying" There are some decent lyrics in there and I think you can put something good out with some revision and condensing. But you're rhyming "fall" w/ "falls" and "good" w/ "good" and "die" w/ "die"??? Plus your rhyming schemes are all over the board. Pick one and stick with it. |

i DON'T think it's fair... which is why it must be done. self loathing is severely important for producing good art. we should always compare ourselves to impossible standards. i do it to myself, it'd be hypocritical to not do it to others. |

'baud : self loathing, I dun think so.. But comparing ourselves to impossiable thats fear of mediocrity, AVOID IT! Cause no one is perfect so that won't land u where u want to be, if don't believe me ask any great artist.
'veqq: awesome lyrics , u can fix them just a little bit, but good job they're nice
'ctwon : no those won't work did thrash metal at all!
'veqq: u could use them for death of black metal of any kind |

if you have no fear of mediocrity, you most likely mediocre. find me a single great artist that did not hate themselves. contentment is the poison of failure. |

They were definitely going for a thrash song...
And... You guys think of them way better then I do... My view on it is actually like Baudelaire. :P I'm starting to write some more stuff, it's all coming out as crap though. So... The best part about them in my mind was that 2 years ago I managed to make something of such length without dismissing it as total crap.
It seems really choppy, the rhyme scheme is extremely simple, and the interlude... Yeah... :P
Thanks for the Critism, tonight or tomorrow I should have something new up. |

"How often have you considered yourself a perfectionist?
Probably quite often. But how often have you looked beyond
your perfectionism to try to get a glimpse of what is behind it?
If you are like most people, probably never.
But if you took a long look at perfectionism do you know
what you would find? You'd discover that perfectionism is the
socially acceptable Siamese twin of a subconscious feeling called
fear of mediocrity. Because perfectionism is socially touted as a
positive personality trait, we consciously accept its existence
within us as desirable. But within the hard-core perfectionist,
fear of mediocrity stands unseen off stage and pulls the strings.
So, even though perfectionism enjoys acceptance, it creates a
pattern of self-imposed pressure that we tend to avoid. This
avoidance, in turn, leads to procrastination and self-defeat.
An ice skater who once competed in a
Winter Olympics spoke about the early
days of her figure skating career. She
lamented about having been so overwhelmed
by the pressure of perfectionism that she
had a nervous breakdown and lost most of her hair.
In another case, the pressures of perfectionism
prompted writer Dorothy Parker to explain her
inability to meet deadlines by saying that for
every five words she wrote, she erased seven.
Moreover, Parker's ongoing difficulties with
alcohol were probably related to her intense
perfectionism. These reactions to perfectionism are
not at all uncommon.
76
8. Fear of Mediocrity
Remember: Perfectionism is really a subconscious fear of
appearing mediocre either to ourselves or to others. Attempts to
escape our fears often lead us down self-destructive and selfdefeating
paths.
Fear produces anxiety, and anxiety produces a host of other
undesirable physical and psychological conditions, including
such reactions as alcoholism, drug abuse, and depression.
When we fear falling short of perfection, our self-discipline
power suffers because we subconsciously send ourselves a
message that says: "My efforts might turn out to be less than
perfect, maybe even mediocre. Better not to even try than to
risk that devastating possibility." In the meantime, while we
subconsciously send ourselves that negative message, we're
faced with the reality that perfection is impossible. Our selfdiscipline,
then, suffers a defeat before we even begin our task.
Consequently, regardless of our chosen task, we fight ourselves
every step of the way: "If I can't do it perfectly, then I really
don't want to do it at all." This inner tug-of-war will shadow our
every attempt to exercise self-discipline until we replace our
subconscious fear of mediocrity with a realistic, rational point of
view: Chasing perfection is like chasing the fountain of youth—
it's a fool's mission. Immediately divorce your self-esteem from
perfectionism.
Remember: None of us is perfect; nothing we do is perfect.
We're all human." Theodore Bryant

Baud, if you'll love nature when it's gone, so will you so that seems kind of impossible for you to sta after it to 'love' it. And with respects poetry and songs are two different thing's, poetry ryhmes too much and would'nt go with anything, songs have beat to surround the place following the music's feelings, you don't do that with poetry, if we all SANG poe it'd just be nothing but down right awful.
Veqq, is this ment to be sort of soft/punk rock? As I read it that's what I'm getting in m head, now I'm not a strong fan of that stuff but the souunds not bad. Could'nt really say too much though as that's all I'm hearing that suits it it don't seem to be my personal taste, but if it is that style it works I think. Better seek another opinion on this one though as the beat I like's just not catching on for me. |

Heather, way off base. Lyrics are naturally a type of poetry. Many songs have rhyme schemes and many poems are free verse. If you ever hear professionals perform a Shakespeare play, you will hear a natural, consistant beat to the verses. I believe Shakespeare used iambic pentameter in most if not all of his stuff. Baud, correct me if I'm wrong. |

yeah shakespeare did use iampic pentameter with most of the major characters in his plays other than the odd sonnet or two. and yes, poetry does have a lot in common with lyrics in music. however i dont believe you can simply write a poem and put music to it. |

How is Slipknot anywhere close to Death or Thrash? Like really...?
Actually, I can get very mean on such things, at it will become a flame war so... Just PM me, so I know where your coming from. :P
I had some inspiration last night... And, I'm thinking of a concept album type thing. :P I have a story written out with about 17 songs making it up. I just need to start writing those though. :P |

Well if I sang Carol Ann Duffy's poem 'Solome' you'd think that weird, poems and songs both express feelings but poems usually are more like spoken word although sometimes you can feel the aggression. But if you have problems with that make a diferent thread, we're just going off subject here.
Veqq, in a way I agree with Bodom, there's a feel of heavy metal from what I can hear, it's just not real angry like Ossie Osborne or someone else I don't like hearing...so I'm glad it don't sound like him! |

There's better poetry than Carol Ann Duffy's. I personally love Poetry, and enjoy what they're saying.
Poetry is where songs originated from anyway. That's why most of the songs we hear rhyme. |
