I THINK actives are high-gain, so they are especially good with lots of distortion. I'm not sure though. |

 That doesn't mean that actives are only for metal... They just have a very rich, full, thick sound. I know technical-death players that use the same actives as some Jazz players...

There is nothing annoying about the battery haha, they are supposed to last for 5000 hours of playing.
 
I changed mine once in the year I've had it, just for good measure, I just opened the compartment, took out the battery and popped the new one in and went on my way. |
