Anyone have any suggestions on a good metronome for around $50 or less. I have seen a lot of bad reviews on the Boss and Korg metronomes in this price range. |

Same here, EMB. Though, you'll probably have better timing if you use a metronome, LP. I don't know much about the quality of metronomes since I've never used one. |

I found some new exercises and I thought I would practice them with a metronome. I will post them later in the lessons section but one seems like it would be a really good exercise for speed building and you have to have a metronome to do it correctly. |

I thought I heard that Boss' metronome was pretty decent. To be honest, they don't really do much other than just keep a steady pulse. If you could download a copy of guitar pro then you can make your own drum tracks, allowing for various accents and tempo changes. If you want to download the program legally then it won't cost much, definately less than $50. There are many illegal versions floating around for free on the internet as well however. |

I would have thought Boss would be a good name to go with as well, but I have read some bad reviews from people who have had them for a couple of months and had problems with them. I have seen this on several models in this price range. |

Ah yes, of course! There's a little bit of lag on it though when you use it at high tempos. |

Playing with a metronome really cleans up your playing. It gets boring though, so I make simple drume tracks instead. |

Doz said it. The point of using one is to enhance your sense of timing. yes you can get it from songs, but a metronome breaks it down for you and gets you to the roots. When playing a scale, chances are you're not perfectly in time, while practicing with a metronome will put you in time as long as you listen to it.
I own a Korg MA-30. Works wonders. Has the following,
• volume control
• 1/8in output jack.
• Function for tapping in the beat if you don't know the BPM
• Adjustable Beats per Measure
• Adjustable sound for finding a note
• Easy to read digital screen
• Takes two AAA batteries
I think it was thirty bucks, but don't quote me. |

I decided to go with a Boss TU-80. It was the one of the only Boss metronomes with good reviews that I found in this price range. For $30 usd seems to be a good metronome and it is a tuner as well. The only problem I have with it is if you are tuning an acoustic guitar the mic jumps around a bit, but it is great on electric guitars. |

Another idea for the site... What about a "product review" section at the top of the page. That way if someone buys a new piece of gear they can use it for awhile and then wright a review for that product. Let everyone know there likes and dislikes about the items. Then everyone who tries the product from then on could click on the same page and write there own review.
This would be helpful to keep product advice from disappearing into the forum pages, and also for people who don't log in every day they might miss someone asking for advise on something.
I don't know it might be a good idea. I know I would find it useful, I like to check reviews before I buy something. Just to get it up and running and not just an empty page everyone could just get on and put up reviews on the gear they are using now.
