guys i need some help/advice here,
i got this e-gtr really cheap, but it turns out the conventional guitar-2-amp cable doesn't fit into its jack, it looks [the place where you plug it in?] more like some plug on the computer... i took it to this guitar place one time and the guy told me the electrics in it is opposite to what conventional guitars have [i don't know passive or active?] but he din't want to try fix it
what can i do to make it work on conventional amps?
can the plug-in place be changed?
it's a real heavy, old guitar, supposedly made in russia, with a jaguar-like body, and more switches then usual... |

Pictures?
Anyway, sounds like your guitar has a 1/8th jack as opposed to a 1/4 jack. Head on over to your local Radio Shack and buy yourself a 1/8th to 1/4th cable adapter and you should be set.
A little fair warning though, your tone will take a major hit while using a 1/8th jack. |

Yea, it's an electronics store. 1/8th and 1/4th just refers to the size. |

i have no idea what your point is then, the plug-in-spot is not just a diff size but looks more like a microphone thing...

i guess?

man that's exactly it, that midi one, only the five lil things are circular and it does seem a bit bigger that then [as far as i can estimate from that pic]
maybe i should point out again, the guy i gave it to, to try fix it, he said it uses active[?] electronics [said it might need batteries to run? lolwut] and that it has like, paraphrasing, "bunch of stuff inside" electronics-wise...
so whats's the deal here? :/ i have some feeling it wouldn't work trying to use an adapter?
i'll try snapping a pic with my cell phone or something **... |

three pictures of the plug for the gtr-2-amp cable
can you please explain what this is and suggest some non-expensive ways to get it to work on regular amps, if it's a midi thing how does the connection to a pc work
thankyou |

I don't think well be much help here. You need to talk to someone who has one or find a midi guitar forum.
Maybe ask this chap: http://www.dipity.com/tickr/Flickr-midi-guitar/ |

I must have misunderstood the first time around. Hence why I asked for pictures.
That does indeed look like a MIDI jack. Get a cable that fits man. Most recording software allows for MIDI input, so that shouldn't be a problem.
As for amps... If you know a thing or two about electronics you should be able to remove the MIDI jack and replace it with a "normal" jack. |
