Why not just do a little research yourself before asking a question that takes 5 seconds to answer yourself? Seems pretty lazy. |

gshred: if you compose everything on the stave, you can slide into an instrument (i.e. contra-bass vs. tenor (sax for example)) without feeling constrained by the ranges of your current favorite instruments. |

I'm interested on which orchestral tunes you've heard that use a saxophone, I can't think of many uses except for I think some Debussy and definitely Gershwin.
Also if I were you I'd stick a cello in there.
http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/77-Principles-of-Orchestration-On-line
Here's the principles of orchestration by Korsakov (flight of the bumblebee etc) it's all 26 lessons from his book and it has footnotes by a professor of music stating instances where a composer had done something that Korsakov had wrote shouldn't or couldn't be done making it nice and balance. |

I wanted to try something orignal. Saxaphone
is on of my favorite instruments, and I have A large
jazz influence in my playing,so sax was an obvious choice
Cello's are good for making things sound a bit bigger.
Ill have to see if its needed.
And that is an awsome link man, thanks. |

Fair enough. I will refrain from any comments that might be somehow taken out of context in the future. |
