Okay, I need to learn some good scales for improving some easy solos. What Does y'all suggest? |

Start simple with the 5 pentatonic positions. I usually used those to figure out the rest of the neck/mode shapes over the last couple years if I didn't know the key out right(great for having 5/7ths of the key puzzle solved).
Learn those shapes in really any key you want, but I would suggest either E Minor Pentatonic or A Minor Pentatonic. Very useful and you can get a nice feel for the open use of strings with both as well as some higher register fret work on the guitar. Start slow with learning these and be sure to make connections to the other patterns to better help you to remember them and how to get out of each 'box' shape. |
