I use this page to make different sounds with the guitar then I try it on my real guitar all different ways to see what happens. However I do right songs on a paper with no guitar chords yet. How about you? http://www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.php |

Most of the stuff I write is from accident. Just noodling around and finding something I like.
If I can't hear it on my guitar, I won't try to write anything. I would suggest recording everything you do. That way you can hear some of the ideas after you play and it might be something you like. |

I find it easier to write some music on the guitar and then come up with works after the fact. most songs will write themselves.

songs always kinda insist that i write them; I've written for 30 some odd years but never really sat down and 'tried' to write.
but thats the process
question was "what kind of songs?"
easy answer hear ... if my muse-antenna is up and receiving as it should and a song is being sent down the pipe to my hands that song is almost-always autobiographical.
I dont write , for better or worse, what i dont experience (so far at least)
and i usually dont write 'happy' tunes, some love songs , yes, but very few 'happy tunes' (the reason being : i dont want to stop being happy to bang out a tune about it --- whereas the darker-sadder-etc sides of life demand immediate release through song.
its always words/music fighting to come out at once.
this usually takes 20 or 30 minutes (we're not talking Scores here lol)
so
autobiographical
music/lyric-simultaneously
and i toss about 70% of them out the door, as its afool who refuses to self-edit.
RAWK!
