I have a Peavey 6505+ with a marshall 1960A cab that I absolutely love. But every time my band plays with signed bands like Oceano, For Today, and A Plea for Purging I noticed that their guitar sound was huge compared to ours... Just all around better and more powerful sounding.
At first I thought this was because of effects, mods, or rackmount stuff, but usually all they had was a simple delay pedal or noise gate. Finally I realized that all of these guitarists were running through two heads each. Combining things they liked about each one into one devastating sound.
So here's my question, for those of you who are experienced with tube amps. What can I pair with my 6505+ to make my sound better? Mesa Boogie, Krank, Orange, Hughes and Kettner?
Thanks! |

Yeah I've been checking them out, awesome sounding amps, the right price range too. What model though? Fireball, Powerball, Savage, Blackmore? What model would be best for extremely high gain heavy metal, but are articulate enough for soaring lead work? |
