I deleted that topic because I know it was pathetic and completely childish. How can you say that's suitable for a music site? Seriously? Just because you get moody with people doesn't mean we're going to let you get away with weird topics like that.

i read that moderators were chosen for their knowledge about guitar and music theory.

But the point in moderators is to edit what isn't necessary and add what is. It's to moderate the site, and make sure the site stays true to it's name. Otherwise we'd just be teaching, then there'd be no point in calling anyone a moderator.

Look Patleh, I'm trying to explain that we as moderators feel a topic on lighters isn't necessary for a music site. And I'm sure you know the topic after that was completely unnecessary. So then you'll understand why I deleted it in the first place, right?

Hey man, sorry if you felt like you were hard done by but if it's a case of you feeling like I singled you out you need to understand that if anyone else had posted that original thread (including either of the other moderators) I would have deleted it. But I think you get that anyway.
And you obviously didn't understand why I left your masturbation thread up; in all honesty it was as a vehicle for you to personally demonstrate how unbelievably childish you were behaving, accentuated only by how wound up you were getting on a topic that really held little relevance to this site. I left that thread up so the other users on this site could see that. Maybe you do get THAT now.
And to enlighten on Jazz's point, the Admin chose us to be moderators for several reasons.
We have shown that we can be trusted to help run the site in a mature responsible manner (posting a retaliation thread on masturbation doesn't do this).
We have shown that we can distinguish between information (be it threads, lessons, licks) that does and doesn't serve a purpose (posting a thread about lighters doesn't do this).
Although we do not pretend to know everything, between us we have a fairly extensive knowledge of a wide range of topics and theory that IS relevant and integral to people's learning and the reasons for which they use this site.

One final point for you to consider: if I was a bad moderator, who was just power-hungry and felt this was the only way to get my kicks (which I think might be the image you've formed in your head) I would have simply deleted that original thread and moved on. Aside from me allowing this one to continue, the fact that I actually made several attempts to explain to you why it was deleted (along with Jazz and other forum members) shows that I do have sound reasoning for my actions and also my attempts to keep a good atmosphere going on this site.

I'm hoping this has cleared stuff up, because regardless of your response this is the last time I will be posting on this thread. If you're happy with this now, great - I'm glad we could resolve it. If not, all I can exasperatedly say is to go and cry to Mom, and ask her that same question about masturbating you posted before - I'm sure she'd be very interested to discuss it.
