Why do I see guitarists with tape around there picking hand. I have seen Kirk Hammet and afew others with it. |

Yeah, I've seen him with tape as well. I think it's just to prevent the strings rubbing his hand.
Although that doesn't seem very rock n roll! |

Why would it matter if the strings rub his hand? (taped or not taped) Is it to prevent the excess noise that are hands make against the strings? |

when you palm mute a lot a play very fast the strings will eventually wear down on your hand. i personally think you should change your technique if you have this problem. |

i heard that it stops the sweat from running onto the strings, idk if its true, or where i read it. |

I found why, and I was right. It's to stop him injuring his hand over the course of a tour.

Wow, another new thing to hear and learn about. I should probebly do that, not that I'd hurt myself playing, but yesturday I somehow cut most of my right fingertips and my thumb up opening a can of fruit. Hurts like heck. |
