Just make this clear. A diatonic scale is any scale that has 5 whole steps and 2 half steps. A Pentatonic scale is a scale that has 5 tones. A hexatonic scale is a scale that has 8 tones. A Chromatic scale is basically all 12 tones in the western system. A Ahemitonic scale is a scale that has no half steps. Correct me on what ever i'm wrong on |

An Ahemitonic scale would then also be known as the Whole Tone scale, right? |

@JazzMaverick:not exactly. An Anhemitonic scale generally means a scale that has no semitones(or half steps if you wish), as opposed to hemitonic scale->a scale that contains at least one semitone.A Whole Tone scale is one of the anhemitonic scales.
@Littlewing:A hexatonic scale has 6 tones not 8. ( hexa is a numerical prefix that means six-like in hexagram, hexameter etc).An eight tone scale is called octatonic.
