We all know the country but what is the name of the town you live in? Some of us may be closer than you think.

I live in Morehead Kentucky, It's a small town about sixty miles east of Lexington.

( If you are into collage sports Lexington is the home of the Kentucky Wildcats. )

I'm "from" Des Moines, Iowa. However, I live in West Bend, IA-a small town about 40 miles from the border with Minnesota. I will be leaving to attend university at The University of Iowa or Iowa State (which doesn't really matter, study abroad for the win!). From what I've seen, there are a lot of people here from Iowa.

I'm not sure if I'm correct, but it seems that you might not have liked Iowa too much, tele. I'm not enjoying living here very much anyway. Once I've finished my education I intend to move to Paris. How well that plan will hold up, I don't know.

Regardless of where I go, I absolutely need to get out of here, I feel like of suffocating. I've actually had lots of people tell me that I should get out, and not necessarily people I would expect it from. In example, my friend's aunt just randomly told me that I should move to Seattle because I'm too much of a "free spirit" to be here. Which I replied to with "thanks?"

You would love it in Southern Oklahoma; few cars, the only construction on oil field (which is a maybe at my area), animals are plentiful, 42 acres is a good, open field, suicides and murders happen only in the big cities.

It was underwater, but the river has receded enough that reconstruction can begin. In my opinion, Cedar Rapids was the area hit the worst. Iowa City got it pretty bad, but a lot of the damage there was at the University and in commercial areas near the river. All of Cedar Rapid's downtown is wiped out (As my dad says, "It looks like the buildings are on respirators and IV's". i.e. Semi-trucks that are actually giant dehumidifiers and trains of generators to sustain buildings for companies like Alliant Energy, which supplies a large chunk of Iowa's eletricity), and the residential areas around the river are devastated. The people whose homes were flooded were the ones with the least ability to recover from it.

It's ironic because this was supposed to be the year of the river, where we revitalized our downtown district with the opening of a new riverfront entertainment and business area. Now we get this mess instead.
