I know most of you guys are into the Ibanez, and shredding guitars, but does any one have an opinion about hollow bodied guitars? I have really thinking about getting a dot, or a Sheriton II or something along those lines. I have played a Sheriton II several years agon when i worked at a pawn shop but choose not to purchase it, i did not really understand how to play it.

I really like those Ibanez Artcore series guitars. They are really nice and I played on in the shop and it sounded really nice. try it out.
I really love those Dot ES-335, they look really nice (especially in red), and they have a really nice sound, plugged, or unplugged. |

I was leading toward an epiphone dot, I have read good things about them and all the online places are back ordered. I'll try out the ibanez. I played an George Benson model a long time ago. I don't think i apreciated it cuz i was more in punk, trash, and metal stuff. now i'm more into tone and finding a good sound. |

I love the look of these types of guitars. I'd love to buy one when I have the spare cash (which doesn't happen very often). |

I used to play on a crappy starter amp with my ion for 9 months. that is called bad tone punk stuff. all i could do was shotty power chord progressions lol. Now I can do a lot more and I have a great tone now.
Definitely try out the Artcore, go on to ultimate-guitar.com and read reviews for it. there are lots of diff models and the reviews are pretty positive last i looked.
I won't be buying a guitar for years probably lol cause now im so broke it aint even funny.
Oh and good news:
I found out why I had that terrible wooshing noise in my amp when I had two amps plugged in.. It was because my Line 1 (mic jack) was maxed out, and there was no mic in there, so it wooshed. I turned it off and now its perfectly silent :) and my tone is better/more ... outstanding... |

i just got a epiphone dot. i just like the way hollow bodies look. also i figured i could use the amp or other gear to get a wider range of sounds than other types. as far as the sound quailty and other stuff i am not one to ask because i cant play and havent really heard enough different guitars by themselves to make an educated opinion. but for the record i do like mine. i got a little marshall amp and also a digitech rp150 that can do all sorts of stuff. |

just the normal dot i paid 399 at guitar center. that might be a bit high i dont know. do you know what the diffence between the dot and studio dot is. it is the blonde wood (i.e. unstained) with a clear coat finish on top of course. yes guitarboy the amp is the mg10cd. that is just about the smallest cheapest marshall amp i saw except the one behind the counter that you can clip on your belt. lol. again i am brand new i knew what kinda guitar i wanted but when it came to the amp i just bought the cheapest thing the salesguy pointed at. i can tell you that a week after i got the dot i bought a epiph0ne g-400. thats the recreation of the '61 or '62 or '65(seen too many variations on the review boards to know for sure) gibson SG. i like the thinner neck but i still like the dots sound better even though i seriously wanna learn how to play some ac/dc. go figure |

@goodtunes:
Do you like yer MG ? On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being lowest 10 being highest) how does it sound to your liking ?
You can still learn some AC.DC, you may just need to tweak your EQ on your amp and your tone on guitar to get a bit more of an accurate sound.
PS, how long you playing? |

well i do like it scale on a 1 to 10 hell i dont know i guess a 8. i will tell you that i like that the overdrive has seperate controls for the sound so you can go from clean to real hardcore metal sound and back by just pressing one button without fumbling with knobs. but since i got the digitech rp150 i dont use the overdrive anymore. i bought an acoustic 4 years ago i guess, messed with it for a bit then set it down in the corner and never touched it. been messing around with the electrics for a week now. so i brand new. i plan on bringing the acoustic to work to practice along with some beginners books. |

well what got me to want a hollow body was several features that i'm not getting from my current guitars. there is a cretin amount of feed back you get from the hollow's that will let you sustain a note almost forever. they seem pretty universal and even AC/DC used it for rhythm and recently i was Angus playing one with the stones.
The studio dot's were very striped down versions, not really pretty but looked mean - lol.
I'm bouncing back in forth about a dot, an ibanez AM73, or possibley PRS's new SE hollow. What ever i choose i'm getting it new. I have been king of 2nd hand guitars i would really like to get one bran new. |

kewl. good luck with whatever ya end up with. you can check out the reviews for all at harmony central and UG(ultimate guitar). i mention harmony central because i havent seen it mentioned on here yet. and i did learn something @ UG. on UG somebody said that epiphone was making hollow bodies b4 gibson bought and took them over. so in fact the gibson es-335 is a copy of a epiphone. all thats gotta be true because i read it on the internet. lmao. |

Lol can't always trust the internet but oh well, might be true.
I would love to have Epiphone DOT ES-335 Cherry Finish. They looks amazing.
That amp does have that which is good. See with my Line 6 you do this:
Go on the "insane" mode which is wicked distortion, find a sound that you like, then to save it you hold the yellow light down for like 3 seconds till it blinks. That saves the setting.
Then you repeat with all other settings.
It is cool cause it will just store it in kind of like yours. And if you mess something up like you hit a knob and your sound gets screwed up, just click the button again or turn the amp off and you will get your saved sound back.
My amp sounds so so sooo much different when it is plugged intoa 100 Watt kustom amp.... and not just on its own. It sounds a lot better
(I got your message, and as Doz tells all the newcomers, you can edit your post after you post it instead of having to post again.) |
