It depends, what type of sound are you aiming for? Any examples of bands guitar tone you want to emulate? |

if you're playin' rock, get a marshall. its the best amp for les pauls in a rock scenerio. they really bring out the full bodied crispyness that les pauls are known for. |

I'll go along with that. Check out the late Paul Kossoff (Free). Most of his early stuff was done with a Les Paul Standard and Marshall's. What a sound! |

Thx I'm Lookin for A Slash Sound with the Les Paul and An Eddie Van Halen sound with the Sebring because it's a strat style. |

I use 4 other guitars an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, really good for the cheapness of it brand new.
I use D'addario Regular strings (.10's to .46) and I think they sound really good. |

well for slash...he uses les pauls and marshalls, so that'd be a good place to start. but for van halen, gotta get some flanger, reverb and some delay. but most of van halen's sound came from the player-not so much the gear. |

Wow, redstrat actually said something intelligent instead of adding "buy a strat" to it..
marshall's are the best though, but kinda expensive... |

Lol, you guys need to be more specific. You do know that not all Marshalls sound the same don't you? And there are lower priced lower quality ones?

JCM-800...hows that...but most Marshalls do sound similar. they all have that distinct "marshall" crunch... |

Yeah I agree with GS124. The JCM-serie. JCM 800-rock/crunch, JCM 900-metal, JCM 800 + JCM 900 = JCM 2000 |

Now, that's a good suggestion GS. :D
I really like what I've heard of the JCMs. I might be getting myself an 900 or 2000 soon. Just got to decide which suits me better. |
