I voted undecided for one reason, It could be and probably is inspired or "stolen" from taurus, BUT... in the definition what is plagiarism, there are far too less "beats" that count's form of plagiarism.
this is always been tricky thing in music business, because noone can own notes eh? and like how one famous blues artist said, "if you copy from one, its plagiarism, if you copy from many, its creation"
Zeppelin and especially Jimmy Page is well known of this kind of "composition style". If you listen: Babe I'm going to leave you by Anne Brendon (btw, listen Joan Baez performance of it, it gives a chills everytime, so wonderful) and compare it to Led Zeppelin version... wow, Anne took legal action at times against and guess what, that song is credited at these days Brendon/Page/Plant.... wut?
Well, it's quite sad when music have come into this... money, fame, "ownership"... It's really sad..
Oh, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_pE5fxdTj4 that Joan Baez performance could be hard to find so, here it is in pretty good version.

To be honest, I first have to say no mostly because I'm such a huge Zeppelin/Page fan. However, I think they may have borrowed parts or pieces from some songs. Also, I know they recorded songs from other artists without giving them credit. This was common back in the day because these songs were considered standards. They should probably settle but for a small amount. I say small but in comparison to what revenue was earned from the song.
As to this Spirit Taurus song, it's a riff! Sure, Page used part of this riff as the main theme to this song but comparing song to song it's not even close! There are tons of riffs out there that are used in tons of songs. Some are note for note. But they aren't all suing each other for the rights. |

Solomon said, "there is nothing new under the sun" thousands of years ago. I once heard someone say that in order to play music, and write music, one must listen to music. Go back and listen to any big star, you can hear either the music, or the lyrics, are borrowed from someone else. I'm not saying Jimmy Page flat out ripped-off the song, but I believe he had it stuck in his head during one of his creative periods... |

Led zeppelin was sued 40 years ago. They have been paying lawyers to keep it from going to court. |

Well, I believe it's just a matter of coincidence. I like to add that the Robin Thicke/Pharrell Williams hit "Blurred Lines" is about as original as you can get. The only thing that is similar in that song is BPM and part of the drum beat. If you listen closely the last beat of 'Lines is played differently than Marvin ***e's "Give It Up", maybe with a different hi-hat hit. Now with George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" and the Chiffons' "He's So Fine" the chorus' melody was clearly taken but I really don't know if the chords where taken, much less the verse-melody, chords as such. In my opinion it is old stars and young lawyers overreaching, basically a power trip. |

I still maintain that "Stairway's" notes are different from "Taurus'". The A-G#-G-F# to whatever is the same. The tempo is half and half, meaning the last part (the turnaround) is clearly not alike. The tones are slightly different in "Taurus'" acoustic guitar is basically dull as compared to the brighter "Stairway's" acoustic guitar. But this case will probably go to Spirit. It won't murder Led Zep. and who cares what it will do for Spirit. In my opinion it will redistribute money, take away money from everyone else that was vouched for Led Zep. Rock will keep on suffering, be watered down and will be marginalized. Finally, I have to ask a question: Is Spirit suing Led Zep because the Spirit Camp heard Led Zeppelin play "Stairway" in the 1980's i.e. WRONG DECADE or because they heard all of the gifted guitarists play "Stairway" and people would asume it to be Led Zep. In the end it looks like Led Zep. will be remembered as a '70's iconic rock band, whereas Spirit will be remembered for a band that had songs in the late '60's? Yes I think it's more than music going on here Led Zep. coming out of the '60's more progressive and Spirit not aligned with the times all the way up to 2016. Make them relevant Judge Nobody, make them "with the times"! |

Attention: I just received word from a high ranking political official that there is a national ban on all forms of music. Police will be taking appropriate action(s) in detaining assailants. Any and all musicians will be blacklisted. Any electronic storage devices will be turned over to the collection agency immediately. Internet access will only be limited to the select few with added buffering for safeguarding information. T.V. will cease to exist, as well as radio. Newspapers and magazines will conform to one mass outlet, sponsored by our government. As of 6/20/2016 Marshall Law will be implemented indefinitely. Again, I am reiterating that there is a national ban on all types of music. |

I assume all musical instruments (guitars) will be confiscated and shipped to Guantanamo Bay as soon as all exited inmates are reunited with family members. |

I also heard they were going to build walls around the land-locked borders, evacuate all correctional facilities to hold musicians and artists. All inmates will be drafted into any professional sports avenue. Mexico will secretly payoff Donald Trump for eliminating the Republican Party. All Democratic Leaders will be demoted to group home care-takers for the aging population. |
